What happened to the hooker?

Does anyone noticed that the hooker never reappeared in the movie? What really happened to her?
Probably ended up raped and killed by the one with the head in the tree? :))

She probably just went back to the pimp I doubt the husband would risk upsetting him

After her conversation with the wife, there was a shot of a boat sailing away from the island (just before we see the wife at a bee hive). She was probably on that boat.

did you watch the whole movie? because she came back and was dragged away by the brother.

reply

yeah, that's the only problem i have with this movie
give the hooker some love maan...
she's the one truly good person in this movie, and you don't even tell us what happened to her??

When Bok-nam called for the boat near the end, the whore's ass was visible in the room with the guy's who answered the phone. I imagine she was their play thing until she got an outcall to the island.

metro west dude, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The hooker was a witness to the girl's murder and she clearly didn't take it in stride like the inhuman locals did. Could she simply get back to work after an experience like that? (That didn't work too well for Beok Nam, did it?) Would they just let her go, trusting her to keep mum about the crime she had observed? Surely her complicity in Beok Nam's escape attempt wouldn't have won her their confidence. No, to me her fate is as much a mystery and a narrative lacuna as that of King Lear's fool.

Did anyone else love that Old Man who just sits around? Cause I thought everything about him was hilarious. Also this is seriously my next in line favorite Korean film behind Oldboy (Oldeuboi).

I have the movie and paused it at the scene with the face half showing out of the dirt. It is the face of one of the old ladies. You can even see grey curly hair. This scene is about 1:18 minutes into the movie, well on my version it is exactly 1 hour, 17 minutes and 41 seconds into the movie. As for the hooker, I believe one of the previous poster is right. She (her butt) can be seen walking towards the men playing cards after Bok-nam phones in to hire the boat.

Yes, it really bothered me too throughout the whole movie that this character's fate was unresolved. I mean she was one of only 3 truly good people with a heart of gold in the whole movie (herself, the bank colleague girl in the beginning, and Bok-nam), so there's really very few people in the movie to care about. Ever since she was dragged away by the half-wit to be raped, I was hoping 'omg please show what happened to her, anything' and then the movie ends. It's very lazy to leave a loose-end like that. I've looked back at all the scenes since her last appearance, she was no where to be seen. There's a unburied face on the ground that someone mentioned (but that could be one of the aunts) and the the chick delivering food to the boatman near the end (but her face isn't seen). So her fate is ultimately a mystery, but most likely not a good one. I guess it runs with the theme of the movie: good people get screwed, raped, tortured, beaten and killed in miserable ways.

Sad to say, I think she was raped and killed too. No way the brothers were going to let her go back to the mainland and testify about what really happened.

I think the girl we see at the end, wearing a yellow blouse and black skirt was definitely not the hooker. She had wavy hair, whereas the hooker had crimped. Secondly, you can see her arriving outside the office on a motorbike at 1:36:14 and coming in she's holding some thermos (hot tea?), so I believe she was a delivery girl.

I think that since the hooker returned to the island on a personal mission to help Bok-nam, her pimp probably didn't know where she was. It's safe to assume she was raped and killed.
