slow and far-fetched

I liked both actors but I found it a tediously slow film. The only two scenes I enjoyed were the tutoring session (it was like a writer's revenge for every awful one-to-one experience a lover of literature has endured with a stupid person who doesn't get it--especially if the blockhead is good looking and a successful athlete) and the "confrontation" in the café.
I thought the plot was extremely far-fetched. Of course the French have a more romantic view of violent criminals and of literature teachers than we have. Having worked in a jail and a prison and a public defender office, I have known a lot of American criminals of various kinds, and I can't think of a single one who would have interacted with a character like the Professor anything like the way this guy did, unless doing it as an act in order to get some sort of material or egotistical gain.
