i'm still trying to figure out how abby rolled down the car window (to receive her drivers license). she hadn't turned on the ignition yet but you can hear a distinct whir as she rolls down the window. :)

1) In many cars with power windows, even if the ignition isn't FULLY turned on, as long as the key is turned to the first click, all "power" devices will work, including wipers, the radio, heat or A/C, lights, and windows. It's why you can sit in a car without the engine going and still listen to the radio.
2) It's a fantasy. Sometimes, in order for the story to move forward, we just have to accept some things that seem implausible. You aren't going to have a fairy godmother come give you magic wish-granting candles for your birthday, either.
