Seven minutes in and Abby has done NOTHING but act like...

A rude, self-centered b*tch. She gets angry when her family surprises her with cake and slams the door in their face, reacts to her birthday breakfast by casually demanding her brother to put it on her desk (without saying please), then rudely tells him to get out of her room and informs him that she has dibs on the bathroom. What a self entitled b*tch.

That's all.

Isn't that the way all teenage girls are?

Thanks a lot! I hope not!

Gotta say, I'm about halfway through the movie, and Abby is still bugging me. Glad to hear she turns out better in the end.

watching it now and the girl actually did well in the role, her character seems mean at times, but she's believable and not over the top

Well if she was already a considerate, self-aware, thoughtful child before we start watching the film what growth would she have at the end?

It's a cliche but these sort of movies are supposed to start off this way.

I'm watching the film now and I have to agree with you, on top of that she seems to have no problem whatsoever with going to school in her pj's. That is definitely not the behaviour of most teen girls.
After 15 mins I'm not sure I can get through this all and I normally enjoy disney films

i agree with grapeape. she has to be self centered in the beginning because then you see how she grows as a person throughout the movie.

at the end, she hugs her family, gives her brother money, appreciates the breakfast and is generally a nicer person. hence she learned from her experiences.

reply

umm maybe because both times some1 barged into her room.

reply

No they didn't. They were standing in the door way with the cake after knocking, no one barged in.

I can tell you I was so rude and acted just like her when I was a teenager (not so long ago). The hormones make it like a perpetual pms situation for all of puberty. I could have used her wishes and situation to b*tch slap me out of it! Overall, I still enjoy watching this movie:)
