Otherwise, great film! But yes I wasn't exactly having in a good frame of mind when I watched this film and it made things a lot worse, especially the end. This movie was just harsh and it gave you no breaks.
Totally agree. I am having kind of a hard time lately, depression and loneliness. And, being originally from Russia, I was longing to watch some Russian or Russian-language movies. So, I ended up on Netflix, watching "In Fog." (Really excellent and really depressing.) Then it said, if you enjoyed this one, you might like "My Joy." Well, I did, but now I am in an even more depressed state. Way to go, Russians, depressing the hell out of people. :)
shareYes, yes, mother Russia is harsh, but beautiful. I lived there to study for a semester in Petersburg, I loved it but at times I became so depressed.
If you want to watch nice Russian films, watch the soviet comedies. They're wonderful, very innocent and cheery. They're not at all like western style raunchy trash comedies. There is a YouTube channel called mosfilm that is full of them. :)
