Correct aspect ratio

Was this really filmed in 2.35:1 because the version I'm watching looks like nothing but a 1.85:1 image with the top and bottom cropped. There's a lot of visual data obviously missing (a particular spot is the newscast after the seven years later card) and extreme close-ups look extremely compromised as a result of the framing.

Despite the film being a steaming pile of dog turds, I might have appreciated it more if the framing was a bit better. I at least like the camera work and score but not much else.
