A non-spoiler notice to those thinking about watching this.

I recently watched this on Netflix streaming. I knew nothing about the film going in, and had come here to see if there were any helpful reviews; there weren't. They were all spoilers or unhelpful to what I was looking for. Therefore, here are a couple of non-spoiler points for those thinking about investing your time. These are all my opinion of course but my hope is that this will help some potential viewers decide if this film is worth watching:

-The title is so bad that it might have actually done better had it been called anything else.

-The premise of the film is interesting and new, but loses that fresh feeling quickly (from a lack of developing the most interesting parts of the plot).

-This is more of a drama/thriller than anything else. There is barely any action, but the little action we see is logical and warranted.

-There are points of this film that crawwwwl along. This upset me because they could have traded the drudgery for more development on the most interesting parts of the plot.

There's really no twist. There might have been an affirming twist had the title not given away the truth. Seems ridiculous that the writer/director/producer would ruin any suspense concerning the kid featured in the film by telling everyone upfront that he's not Jesus...but they're apparently idiots.

-The acting is very sub par all the way through. The "mommy" can be good at times here and there. Some of the supporting roles read their lines better than others. The kid is actually not that bad.

-There are many references and subtleties to Christianity. Not in a preaching sort of way, but the writer definitely has at least some insight into Christian beliefs. I do as well being raised Catholic, and I thought these references were at times misrepresenting Christianity, and at other times very interesting to see interpreted on screen.

-This film as a whole will disappoint you mainly because you will probably think as I did about the potential this film had to be great. Is this because of budget? Eh, yes and no. They could have done more with more money obviously but this really came down to writing, and everything that had to do with developing the characters and plot more.

-This could have been one of those cult films that never gets the recognition it deserves but is beloved for its unique take on familiar ideas. Too bad it went wasted.

In the end, is it worth the watch? For me yes. I found it interesting enough to invest in. I would give it a solid C just because of the raw potential this movie had and the "almost" that this could have been. If not for that, then a solid D. For you? ...I hope that something here will help you one way or the other.

***EDIT: I can't guarantee that the those who post after me won't give spoilers. If you don't want to risk it, stop reading now.

I like the user review from the guy from Thailand. He's pretty much saying the same thing, only in a more colorful way.

What are you talking about, you gave away the the entire plot the first chance you got. One would presume the title to be intended as rhetorical, rather than consequential, and as a result you've undermined the entire purpose of watching the movie.
This is purely observational, BYW, no offense intended.
