It really was. I figured he'd turn out to be schizo or something. Watched it to the end just to see what would happen and I was like O.o

I didn't hate it THAT much, but after hearing such great things on the festival circuit, it was kinda baffling to actually see it. What a letdown. I just don't understand what people have found so impressive about it. It wasn't particularly scary, novel, atmospheric, well-developed in psychology or narrative. The movie suggests the hero might be unstable (and hence experiencing something other than sober reality), yet only gets more literal-minded as it goes on, which jars against its tepidly explained fantastical element. There are certainly plenty of worse horror movies out there, but this was pretty underwhelming given the hype.

I thought it was literal the whole time. The situation is all a metaphor about fear and how it makes you a permanent victim if you don't knock it off. It's both metaphor and physical. I don't know what you guys expected. The acting was well done, and the atmosphere was creepy in an anxiety causing way. I have anxiety and I could relate to his fears.

I really don't understand why this movie received high accolades, as it failed on so many levels for me. I soldiered through hoping the movie would get better, but sadly it didn't.

Yeah, the final scenes in the Citadel were cool, but talk about too little too late. :(

It's not the greatest horror movie ever but I thought it was at least above average. It created a good atmosphere of dread & isolation (especially in regards to main character having agoraphobia). I thought the whole story was not meant to be taken literally. I think it was more metaphorical in that children who are raised in derelict/crime-ridden environments turn out to be delinquents. Maybe not politically correct but kind of true. Just look at all the crimes (i.e. random bashings) & majority of murders that occur in low socioeconomic neighbourhoods. I don't think the social message of the film was that the children were actually demons. I also liked the dynamic between the nurse who believed the children just needed to be loved & the priest who thought that saving them was hopeless. Good acting all-round I reckon.

I gave it a 6/10.

If insane outnumbered sane, would sane then be considered insane?

I was glad there wasn't a predictable twist at the end or the MC losing his resolve and getting himself killed. He actually followed through on his commitment, amen.

I thought this film was very well done. It is an interesting commentary on urban decay and how it affects the people that live there, especially the children. Also, as someone else stated, the fear aspect and how fear makes you a victim more so than even the predators, illustrated in how the feral children didn't "see" their victims until they displayed fear and once their potential victims conquered their fear, the children could no longer see them as victims.

If you were expecting a simple horror film, then yeah, this wouldn't satisfy, but I liked it a lot.
