Strong right-wing tilt

Not to be nitpicky about it, but they use the word "patriot" way too much. Help me out here....you are in a British Colony, you don't like the British and decide to flight them and start your own country...which is all cool with me. But that makes you a rebel, not a "patriot". And when you shoot British soldiers as a sniper, or attack them in other ways, you're a terrorist.

Also, I thought it was funny when they talked about signing the Delcaration of Independence, and the have a black person say "all men are created equal", and "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". I don't now how she said that with a straight face.

I agree with everything you said. Although I am not sure it is a right wing.

reply

Patriot and rebel are the same things, it all depends on which perspective you are taking.

History is full of acts by rebel forces fighting against a larger force. To the people they are fighting they are rebels and/or terrorists but to the people they are fighting for they are patriots.

wow is all I have to say. wow. You know NOTHING about the birth of America.

reply

Oh, well please elaborate, Mrs. Washington. All I pointed out was my opinion of the semantics. Patriot vs. rebel. As a veteran, I am quite knowledgeable of the birth of the usa, which is why I was even watching this film. All I was thinking about is what makes a rebel a "rebel", and a patriot a "patriot". Like they say, "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist".

For example, if Texas decided to secede from the union, and DID so, and declared themselves their own country, and a US president sends troops in, and those Texans shoot the US troops, who is the rebel? Who is the enemy? Who is the terrorist if a Texan blows up a mess hall filled with American soldiers?

Come on, Ms Knowledgeable, educate me.
