Annoying mispronunciation of Concord
I really wish they had the foresight to hire a narrator who was either from the northeast or knew enough about history to know that it's supposed to be pronounced KONK-erd instead of kon-kord. Every time the guy went on about the Battle of Lexington and Concord, he got it wrong and it was like nails on a chalkboard. Gah!
Here in New England, we have 4 states with places in them named Concord (one a state capitol) and they are pronounced that way because that is the original English pronunciation, named after a place in Great Britain.
I believe in California they also pronounce it that way. In the South and Midwest though, I understand that the second pronunciation is used. There are at least 20 to 30 places in the US named Concord, and getting them all to change would be fruitless and pointless. There's another 30+ all named "Concord Township" and my suspicion is that they mostly use the second pronunciation as well.
That's fine and you people can say it however you like. I'm just making the point that there's a right way to say it up here and it's irritating to hear it being said incorrectly over and over.
