Mostly fictional?

Like the first movie it seems to create a storyline out of whole cloth. While the martial arts sequences are decent other things, such as Japanese baby ninja spies and Japanese saber woman spies probably come straight out of the scriptwriters' noggin rather than anything real. Although it might have been hard to make an opium addict palatable as one source (wikipedia) said. On the other hand it might have made a better film.

A quick check came across this, http://www.kwokwingchun.co.uk/ip-man-biography which offers a biography different than that depicted in the films. Or can anyone cite evidence like a journal article "Pre-pubescent Infiltration and Subversion techniques of the Imperial Japanese Army"

i am sick and tired of ppl saying mostly fiction. of course it bloody is. no film is 100% right. The important things in this film they got right was when Ip Man went to Hong Kong and the Sifu(s) who taugh Ip Man Wing Chun.

Also judging by your profile name im surprised. Films like Fearless, all the Wong Fei Hong films, Red Cliff 1& 2 are based of real events but as a film most is not true. so please stop picking on these things and just watch films as it is.

You're clearly to dumb to realise why people ask if it's "mostly fiction".

when a film is based on a real life person/ real life accounts, it's natural for people to question how much of the film was based on real facts and how much of it was created.

People are curious about the film's accuracy to the real life facts because often some scenes in the movie are too unbelievable to be true (but could possibly be) which is why the ask if it's "mostly fiction" or not.

It's a reasonable thing to wonder about you moron.
