If you watched this...your opinion please

It was, at best, “alright.” A run-of-the-mill serial killer thriller. I watched it because of Natasha Henstridge. The only thing that really surprised me was the ending. I’m not going to give away any plot points so don’t consider this a spoiler. For some reason, perhaps because the source material is a complex novel, the last 15 minutes of the film is nothing but denouement. The serial killer story gets wrapped up (unconvincingly in my opinion) but the film keeps going for another 12-13 minutes, with major characters just talking to each other about their lives/families…for 12-13 minutes! I kept expecting there to be a twist or for another killer to be revealed, but no, this thriller which is - overall - about 90 minutes long, spends the final fifteen percent of its runtime on character development. I don’t mean that as a bad thing, not if you like the characters. But it is certainly odd for a movie-of-the-week to take longer than 5 minutes to wrap things up with its characters.

So it is worth watching? Depends if you like the genre or the actors. However, I thought the strangely lengthy denouncement was worth noting.

The main characters are very attractive and likeable. The story is ridiculous and some things are never explained. I guessed the "bad guy" early on, because the camera kept lingering on him suspiciously. The so-called "love interest" at the end pops up out of nowhere with no preparation. The real mother's story was very unsatisfactory.

I wouldn't rate this high. Not well disguised as I saw through this one.
