Not so anti-monarchistic, rather a dull drama.

The movie is pure fiction and melodrama. I didn't experience it as anti-monarchistic and scornful. It is rather a sentimental love-story. It lacks humour, more humourous scenes as the dinner-conversation about Maxima's father would have made it more enjoyable.
The actors play well, especially in the roles of Beatrix and Friso. The short appearance of the old queen Wilhelmina is a gem.

Holly would be better!
