I love me some 'found footage' fear fests...

& judging by the healthy box office returns on the vast majority of them, so do the majority of people.
Seriously, all the haters out there who bitch & complain & make blanket statements about the sub-genre supposedly being "tapped out" or having "run it's course", they don't have a clue. Because begining with THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT & continuing on down the line with CLOVERFIELD, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, it's sequel & THE LAST EXORCISM, these sorts of films just keep making money.
And, judging by the interest thus far in EVIDENCE & SUPER 8 ( just to name two ), it shows no signs of fading anytime soon.

Anyone who thinks the Blair Witch methodology has run its course needs to go look at a little subgenre known as the SLASHER. Haas it gone away yet?? Yes found footage has a basic formula to follow, but so does... oh that's right, THE ENTIRE HORROR GENRE. ;p

These types of movies will be around forever.

This is an extremely silly thread. So many contradictions.
I actually loved this movie and I like Found Footage films (though there is nary a horror genre that I dislike), but saying that they need to keep making more FF films and stop slashers because they are a tired genre and also saying that there are always people "ruin(ing) the fun for everyone else" is so condtradictory I am almost boggled. There is an audience for every type of film, not everyone is tired of slashers, not everyone wants to see FF, but it is hitting it's high point now and eventually it will get tired the way slashers did, but there will still be an audience for it just as there are for slashers still. They shouldn't stop making any type of film because there are always people that will want to see it and your encouraging them to make more but that's exactly what happeend with slashers and now look at how some people view them, same thing is going to happen here with FF.
You were supporting FF by saying all horror has formula to support FF but then used that against slashers. Not cool or logical.

And Superheroes come to feast, to taste the flesh, not yet deceased

Amazing movie! Congrats!

Really well done movie, it would appear as though you guys are all friends IRL, cuz that def comes through in some of the scenes.. Certainly one of the better found footage in recent years. I wanna ask a bunch of questions about the plot & the ending especially but I guess maybe it was meant to be ambiguous lol?

I'm generally critical of the Found Footage genre, but you bring up a good point. These films really need to be judged on their own individual merit, not on the genre as a whole.

I hate found footage films because of shaky cams. And I don't get the feeling that I'm there at all. Its a movie. I only get a headache and angry because I can't see what is going on half the time.

I'd take an old fashioned Horror movie filmed on a tripod then some kids hand cam pointed at the ground while hes running around in circles and everyone is yelling, "Why are you still filming!".

I will say this is one of the better ones. Still, I believe any found footage film could've been done better without giving the actors the cam. They're actors not cameramen. Just my opinion.

These kind of stuff getting you dizyy etc. its just a lame excuse.

Couldn't agree more. Personally I feel that if ANYTHING shaky cams ADD to the overall atmosphere, it is a technique used to put you in their shoes. If the guy you replied to doesn't feel he is "there", then what the hell does he think about films shot on expensive cameras running across dollies... By his logic those films should be even LESS immersing. I'm lost for words regarding the idiocy of some people in these IMDB discussions...

Sometimes the shakiness gets out of hand.

I prefer it when it's minimal at best. Enough to tell someone is handholding it but still less where I can't get a huge headache from it.

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
