Lots of hate on this board.....

Is this movie high art??? No. But it is topical and captures the essence of the sociopolitical argument over Christmas.

reply

In times when Christianity are the most persecuted, and have the highest death toll due to religion, in the world and there's strong lobby groups pushing for renaming Christmas to Winterval and other nonsense like changing historic dating to avoid the connection to Christ (BC, AD), i'm not surprised the same tendencies can be seen on a anonymous board like this.

It's a bit tragic though how most of them willingly do a deep bend over for that "other religions" every demand despite its track record.

reply

Christians in America are persecuted? Get real. Try comparing the amount of money christian lobbyists spend to that of secularist groups. And why wouldn't you change historic dating to avoid connections with Christ? How would you like it if you were forced to use a dating system based on when Allah revealed the Koran to Muhammed? Or when Siddharta Gautama reached nirvana? And it's still the same frickin year isn't it? You still know that it references the not-even-best-guess at the year of your messiahs birth. They just call it something else as to not rub it in everybody else's face. It's about respect, not putting your own religion over that of others, you know, not being a prick.

Am I right in guessing that "other religion" is islam? What demands? And if you want to talk track records let's line up the death tolls, shall we?

reply

Hard to read? I wrote the world. So much jibberish in your post. We live in the west based on Christianity, not in India or the Arab world. If i went to live there i would happily adapt myself to whatever time line they are on. Respect? Read my sentence before on how i view being respectful coming to another country.

Demands? I live in Europe so we have come further in "embracing" multiculturalism, or as it really is, a mono culture based on Islam. If US currently have 2% of them, many EU countries already have 10-15%. Foods. No more pork in official restaurants and everything should be made from halal, the cruelest way to butcher animals, just like the medievelers like it. Demands on prayer rooms at every public establishment. Note that we used to be pretty secular so there weren't ever rooms for any other religions. Separate times for men and women at the public bathhouses, cause it's a big no-no, haram, to be in the same water together. Of course the suppression at anything referring to Christianity in the public establishment. The latest thing are a slow demand for seperate seats/sections for men and women at public places.

What i'm trying to point out with all this text is that, this has happened over and over in history. First they are a cute minority, like at the US level, and as they increase they get louder and more demanding about their religion. Pretty soon it's Lebanon all over again. Then we all miss Christianity.

And please start ranking the death tolls. Lets see what you can come up with without including the atheist ideologies that rose and fell during the 20th century. At the same time, today, Christians are getting slaughtered in the aftermath of the Arab spring aka Muslim brotherhood spring and every other country where muslims control the society. Doesn't matter if it's Africa, Asia or the Middle East. Even in turist countries like Thailand, muslims have started chopping heads of Christian schoolgirls to cause fear and submission.

reply

Haha, in which country do you live? I'm from Germany, we have a high percentage of muslims and there are no signs of pork disappearing from the restaurants, pulic prayer rooms and seperate bath times. I mean wtf? XD Who cares about demands?! The catholic bishops also demaned gay marriage to be preveted. No one gave a *beep*.

reply

No, our country is not based on christianity. In fact, every member of congress voted unanimously in the Article Of Tripoli (look it up) that this was NOT a nation based on any one religion. And the founding fathers were mostly deists, not christians: They believed in a god, but belonged to no church and thought he should have nothing to do with how a society is run.

You are so dead wrong. As dead as your outdated ideals.

reply

Idiot. Jews are still the most persecuted. more than 60% of hate-crimes in the US are directed at Jews, even though make up less than 2% of the population. Muslims come in second. Christians only come in third if you count all the different denominations as one group.

Just because your doofus of a pope stood up in front of the UN and lied doesn't mean you have to repeat his nonsense. I know your religion doesn't exactly encourage you to think for yourself, but you should really give it a try. You'd be surprised at the things you can learn.

reply

No, you're the idiot. where did you get that 60% number about jews? Hate crimes against Jews make up 12% of all hate crimes. That's high in proportion to their overall % of the population, but obviously nowhere near that highly exagerrated number you mentioned.

reply

without any sources for your statement as far as I am concerned it's just *beep*

Love you all. Christmas isn't a feast that Jezus celibrated.Really he didn't. Why don't we follow Jezus? If you want to celebrate his birth then pesach is probably the right date. Christmas is an invention of people just picking a wrong datedo . And a christmass tree has nothing to do with Jezus himself. Bless you all. Happy chanukah....

Yet, the Jews in Europe are migrating in droves to the US, cause a Christian based society are still the safest place to be a minority. And i'm not Catholic.

reply

You need to turn off the Fox News and start actually doing some research instead of taking what BillO and RushBo as the god's honest truth. They lie more then any broadcasters in the history of broadcasting (if you don't count the state news from China and N.Korea). Christians are the least persecuted and most likely to persecute others. When was the last time someone yelled at you for saying you were christian and nothing else? When was the last time you were fired because of your religion? When was the last time you were disowned by your family for being christian? Never? That's what I thought. Actually the LACK of religion is the most persecuted in this world. In Muslim ran countries we get shunned and the least, murdered at the most. In the usa we are fired from our jobs, we are told we are going to burn in hell, we are kicked out of our families homes or not allowed to be part of family events.

You don't know a damn thing about persecution.

reply

Wrong. It has been proven time and time and time again by several independent sources that Billo and RushBo, as you call them, do NOT really lie at all. They have proven, by several independent sources no less, to be much more trustworthy and honest than just about every other news agency in the world. Those are just documented facts, though. You can remain ignorant of documented facts all you want. Only proves you to be an ignorant fool. The lack of religion is the most persecuted, huh? That is an outright LIE. The lack of religion is NOT persecuted whatsoever. The lack of religion is the one persecuting those who are religious, usually Christians or Jews. That's also a documented fact. You can ignore that one, too, but it won't change reality to match your delusion. Good bye, now.

Never give in. Never give up. Never surrender.

reply

There seem to be a lot of documented facts hiding in your a**.

reply

Nope. Not hiding anywhere. Just DOCUMENTED for ALL to see with just a few seconds using Google, lol. I mean, geesh. Just take a look at the documented studies for crying out loud.

Take a look here.
http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2011/05/20/poll-f ox-oreilly-most-trusted-news-sources

Here's even a hack job of an article, an attack piece if you will, describing yet another independent poll proving it.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/27/fox-news-most-popular

Here's another article describing yet another study proving it.
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/results-are-in-and-most-agree-fox-news-offe red-more-balanced-election-coverage-than-msnbc/

Here's yet another article proving that Bret Baier, who works for Fox News by the way, is the MOST HONEST among ALL news hosts.
http://www.mediaite.com/online/report-bret-baiers-special-report-is-mo re-fair-to-gop-candidates-than-networks/

Here's a Forbes.com article describing more of that CMPA study proving it to be true.
http://www.forbes.com/2009/11/14/fox-news-barack-obama-media-opinions- contributors-s-robert-lichter.html

Now, as I said, the DOCUMENTED facts are NOT hiding anywhere. They're right there in plain black and white for EVERYONE to see if they bother doing the research. Stay ignorant though. It suits you.

Never give in. Never give up. Never surrender.

reply

lol. That's a joke, right?

C'mon, tell the truth. Are you trolling? I find it hard to believe that anyone could be stupid enough to think that opinion polls are proof that someone is trustworthy and honest.

reply

Seems the joke is on you. It's not just opinion polls. There is that CMPA study, ignoramus. I find it hard to believe that anyone could be stupid enough to NOT think that opinion polls are proof that someone is trustworthy and honest when literally EVERY SINGLE opinion poll regarding Fox News comes to that conclusion. Seriously, how dimwitted could you possibly be. Literally EVERY SINGLE poll ever done concerning the trustworthiness and honesty of Fox News comes to the conclusion that Fox News is the MOST HONEST and MOST FAIR AND BALANCED news source on the planet. Since literally EVERY SINGLE poll ever done on the matter comes to that EXACT SAME conclusion, ONLY an idiot would not believe it, lol. ONLY troll here seems to be you. I mean, you believe places like MSNBC, which is known for doing NOTHING but lying, over places like Fox News, which has been NOTHING but honest. Seriously, Fox News has yet to make a claim that actually isn't true. MSNBC, on the other hand, flat out LIES on a regular basis. I've seen the studies that prove it. I've seen the polls that prove it. I've even watched the very programs that prove it. You're on the losing side here, you know. The actual documented facts are certainly NOT in your favor, lol. The polls aren't in your favor. The studies that prove it aren't in your favor. Heck, even many liberal hacks on your side aren't even in your favor as evidenced in one of the links I provided. Before commenting back, please get a brain.

I know that you are trying to make Fox look good. Unfortunately, the sad fact of the matter is that people like you are the reason why everyone thinks Fox viewers are retarded. Here are a few tips:

1. Stop abusing the caps-lock key.
2. Try using paragraphs. I know, it's hard, but trust me, it's worth it.
3. When asked for evidence, never present opinion polls. It makes you look completely clueless.
4. Don't misuse studies to make arguments which they clearly do not support. If your argument is "Fox news provided the most balanced political coverage during the recent election", then sure, go ahead and quote a study which supports that. Don't yell "OMG FOX NEWS IS DA BEST EVAR ET EVRYTING AND IS SCIENTIFICIANCLY PROVEN!!!" and then quote the same study. It makes it obvious that you're simply throwing up any post-hoc rationalizations you can find with a google search. Intelligent, rational people don't do that. They start with the data and work towards a conclusion - not the other way around.

Me, I don't particularly like any of the networks. I take anything I see on them with a grain of salt, and do some digging to confirm or debunk whatever it is that they're presenting. I've found that Fox, on average, tends to be the most biased, most bigoted, and most clueless of the big networks. Their "science reporting", in particular, is absolutely horrendous. However, they also do very well at times - usually on topics which don't conflict with their political bias - and the other networks aren't much better.

I also find the blind rejection of Fox by the left side of the political spectrum to be every bit as idiotic as the blind acceptance of them on the right. If you're so closed minded as to immediately accept or reject a claim based solely on the source, you're a fool, and have thrown away any right to be taken seriously. The phrase "grow up" has lost much of it's impact due to the sheer number of adults who still behave like children, but it fits well nonetheless.

With all that said, I will finish on a positive note. Having someone like you questioning my intelligence always makes me smile. If nothing else, your comments are redeemed by your ability to cheer me up - and for that, I must thank you. Cheers!

reply

LOL. Really. Is ad hominem attack the best you can do? Don't make me laugh. Sorry, but the sad FACT is that Fox News has been flat out PROVEN by those very opinion polls to be the MOST FAIR AND BALANCED of ALL news stations. Opinion polls do NOT make me look clueless. Quite the contrary. Your TOTAL disregard of them makes you look completely foolish, lol. The data PROVES that Fox News is the most fair and balanced of ALL news networks. Now, quit being a douche and actually start paying attention to the actual DOCUMENTED FACTS like any intelligent person would.

Cheers back to you. If I could make a total idiot like you smile so be it. YOU are the one COMPLETELY disregarding the DOCUMENTED FACTS here, not me. YOU are the one acting as if opinion polls don't matter, not me. When literally EVERY SINGLE opinion poll says the same exact thing, they matter. When literally ALL of them agree, they matter. Of course, reasonable, sane, intelligent human beings understand this plain and simple fact. It seems douche bags such as yourself don't. Why don't you learn how to properly phrase an argument and how to properly look at ALL of the facts before arguing with anyone over the internet. You ONLY made yourself look foolish by COMPLETELY ignoring the DOCUMENTED evidence.

It's not people like me who are the reason everyone thinks Fox Viewers are retarded. News flash, the opposite is true. According to those very opinion polls, everyone thinks Fox News viewers are more intelligent than those on the left. That's the whole point of them, after all. No. Quite the contrary. People like you are the reason why everyone thinks those who attack Fox News and make claims about Fox News that simply are NOT true are idiots. Sorry, but you are on the losing side here, son. Your attempt at an adult debate simply doesn't work when the DOCUMENTED FACTS, which I did in fact provide to you, prove you wrong, lol. Since the DOCUMENTED FACTS prove you utterly wrong, your argument fails at its premise. Now, try again when you actually get a brain please.

Never give in. Never give up. Never surrender.

reply

It's pretty obvious that you don't know the meaning of the word "proven". No, repeating the same lies over and over - while ignoring what I've said - will not make them true. It might, however, get you a job with Fox News.

Doesn't matter. Whatever makes you happy, kid :)

reply

Sorry, son, but I am NOT repeating the same lie over and over while ignoring what you said. Quite the contrary, YOU are. It is obvious from your COMPLETE disregard of actual DOCUMENTED FACTS that it is YOU who doesn't know what the meaning of the word "proven" is. Here is the very meaning according to Webster's. Pay attention.

1 archaic : to learn or find out by experience
2 a : to test the truth, validity, or genuineness of <the exception proves the rule> <prove a will at probate>
b : to test the worth or quality of; specifically : to compare against a standard —sometimes used with up or out
c : to check the correctness of (as an arithmetic result)
3 a : to establish the existence, truth, or validity of (as by evidence or logic) <prove a theorem> <the charges were never proved in court>
b : to demonstrate as having a particular quality or worth <the vaccine has been proven effective after years of tests> <proved herself a great actress>
4 : to show (oneself) to be worthy or capable <eager to prove myself in the new job>

Now, since the 5 links I've provided fit EVERY SINGLE one of those definitions of proven, the 5 links I've provided PROVE you wrong, lol. Seriously, how can any sane, reasonable, intelligent human being not see the links I've provided as proof. You may disregard opinion polls, but those opinion polls PROVE you wrong, kid. You may say they don't matter, but when literally EVERY SINGLE opinion poll ever done on the fair and balanced and honest nature of Fox News comes the the EXACT SAME conclusion, they DO in FACT matter. It is YOU, and NOT I, who is disregarding what the other is saying. It is YOU, and NOT I, who is repeating the same tired lie over and over and over. You are, after all, repeating the same DISPROVEN lie that Fox News is not fair and balanced at all and lies constantly. That lie of yours there has been consistently disproven.

News flash, son. SEVERAL documented studies prove beyond any and ALL doubt that Fox News is the MOST fair and balanced news station. The 5 links I've already provided show 4 such studies proving it. Now, how about you go look up the definition of "proven" in the dictionary and learn something. If 4 TOTALLY SEPARATE studies aren't enough proof for you, I don't know what your idiotic definition of proof is, lol.

As you said, repeating the same lies over and over - while ignoring what I've said - will not make them true. Why don't you take that advice there, son, and quit repeating the same idiotic lies over and over, while at the same time ignoring what I've said. I go by the DOCUMENTED FACTS that reality itself proves. Since those very DOCUMENTED FACTS prove you wrong, you are deluded. Since the facts of reality itself prove you wrong, you have to be one delusional individual, lol.

By the way, since it has actually been PROVEN by several DOCUMENTED studies that Fox News does NOT repeat the same lie over and over, while at the same time MSNBC DOES, if I were to repeat the same lie over and over, I'd get booted from Fox News. However, MSNBC would take me in a heartbeat. That is, after all, what's been shown study after study after study. Why would Fox News hire me if I kept repeating the same lie over and over? That goes COMPLETELY against what Fox News stands for. That also goes against just about EVERY study EVER done regarding Fox News's honesty, lol.

In other words, sorry if reality itself proved you wrong outright. Sometimes reality hurts, kid. You just have to live with it. However, you can keep believing the deluded lies you've fed yourself. There are more idiots like you on this planet. Keep disregarding ALL the evidence that proves you wrong ENTIRELY. It will NOT change said evidence.

Now, as I've already said, try again when you actually get a brain please. It is quite obvious that YOU don't even know what the word "proven" means from the fact that you TOTALLY disregard ALL the studies that flat out PROVE that Fox News is the MOST fair and balanced of ALL news stations. It is obvious you have NO clue about what you are even talking about when you make the idiotic claim that I have been the one repeating the same lie over and over while ignoring what you've said, especially when I have been the one to actually provide evidence supporting my side. No. You blatantly IGNORED my evidence and said it was wrong, like any good idiot would. News flash, son. IGNORING the evidence that proves YOU wrong outright, which YOU did from the get go, does NOT help your case, lol.

Stay delusional, though. Whatever helps you sleep at night. If you sleep at night better thinking that Fox News is not fair and balanced at all when EVERY study EVER done on the matter proves you wrong, so be it. If you sleep at night better thinking that Fox News lies when literally EVERY study EVER done on the matter proves you wrong as well, so be it. Keep disregarding reality all you want, son. It won't change how reality actually works. Just keep your head in the sand and keep going, "La la la. I can't hear you. I can't hear you. Your evidence does not exist. Your evidence is stupid because it conflicts with my idiotic worldview." Keep doing that. Let's see how far you will get in life disregarding reality itself.

Never give in. Never give up. Never surrender.

Then how do you explain Fox news going alL the way up to the supreme court to change their NEWS license to an ENTERTAINMENT BROADCAST LICENSE so they wouldnt be legally accountable to only report the truth???? PS opinion polls only confirm opinions, NOT FACTS. ARMY OF FACTS!!!

I think I am taking all of this rather well.

reply

Facts? Are you an idiot? You cited a poll which claims Oreilly is the most trusted news source. That's based on people's opinions NOT facts. Then you cite another poll which says basically the same thing. Again based on a poll of people's opinion, NOT fact. You then cited two blogs...again the blogs cite no sources for their claims except for one which cites a conservative media watch organization. Gee so surprising that they sided with a conservative news organization.

Blogs and polls and partisan reports are not facts...they're opinions. Have you ever looked up confirmation bias in the dictionary?

Look I can cite "facts" too!
