Well done. First "ex-wise guy" movie of its kind (that I have seen).

Great characters and sub plots. Rapaport and Sorvino give honest and genuine performances without cliche or stereotypes. Such a different file than what I was expecting and I thank everyone involved for that.

The only problem I had was with SPOILER) -> the FBI agents. They acted more like low level detectives who graduated from night school than federal agents with law degrees.

Other than that. Great film.

I totally agree. the only part that I was disappointed with was the extended conversation at the funeral being in italian/sicilian. I can guess what was being discussed but not knowing who Paul Sorvino was talking to made this scene feel disjointed.

Still, a well made and different take on the genre.

The disc I watched had English subtitles for that scene.

I also enjoyed this little production, a lot actually, it was well done.

I just saw it I hated because he acted old when he got out. A lot of older guys don't act like he actor because in their head they are still in there twenties.

He cried all over the place. Some guys in that life never cry they think it is a sign of weakness.

The best and only good part in my eyes was in the last 10 minutes. Too bad the whole movies was not like the last 10 minutes.

Oh on the girl friend of his daughter. In the beginning when he first met her normally he would have made a move on her I know I would have :)

My take on your spoiler was that the 2 agents resented the fact that Mr. Joe had (in their opinion) eluded justice by gaining an early release from his sentence. They may have also resented pulling the assignment to watch this old crotchety bastard and felt their time could've been more effectively utilized on a more contemporary post. Failing to be able to do anything about it, they, similar to the Probation Officer, resigned themselves to making Mr. Joe's remaining days as miserable and as lonely as possible.

Admittedly, I'm probably reading way more into this than what was actually presented via the dialog, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

(Besides, I think the scenes where the dialog couldn't be heard or when they were conversing in Italian with no subtitles, were intentionally and strategically placed when and where they were for audience interpretation. Thus, there were many themes for the viewer to "fill in the blanks"!)

An altogether interesting exercise, IMHO.

You guys must be high on the crystal meth your creepy uncle makes in his basement. This movie was hands down the worst piece of garbage I've seen in years. After watching I was tempted to stick my finger down my throat and make myself vomit.

I won't ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul.

I just wanted to inform you that, due to the specific descriptive wording of your comment to my post, I have co-opted the user name, "Uncle Creepy" and use it on another board (along with a contrived, over-the-top, persona to match, of course!)

LMAO!

Good stuff. I felt close to the characters and I'm Irish. Misters Rapaport and Sorvino act so fine they give the impression of being filmed by a documentary crew instead of reciting words learned from a script.
