Random things I don't care for in Gears of War

Correct me if I'm wrong on this...but thinking about it now, it irks me.

The Gears of War games seem to have a lot of 'one trick pony' type 'gimmicks' in them.

I love the games, all 3 of them...but what I'm getting at is.

The Krill...I believe they are only present in that one section of GOW 1 where you have to evade them with light. They are also on the last level...aside from that, I don't think they ever occur again in the trilogy.

Razorhail, or whatever it was called, it was another 'hide under roof cover' type of gaming mechanism...shows up once in GOW 2 that I can think of...and never again.

I mean, when introduced...the Krill come off as a sort of defining quality of Sera. Humans have to stay inside or use light to survive the Krill at night.

But in terms of how much they actually come into play in terms of the whole trilogy....they just feel like 'a random idea to make one section of the game interesting'

Same with the razorhail.

I mean, with the Krill in particular...that's the kind of thing that, if a straightforward film adaptation ever gets made...I for one would be heavily inclined to drop that concept completely.

It's not crucial to the story at all, and essentially serves as a 'make this section interesting' mechanism.

The lightmass bomb killed the kryll

However in Gears 3 Raam will again have his kryll shield
