Giant Plot Hole?

I may be mistaken, but the device at the end of the game wiped out all Imulsion cells in order to kill the parasite, yes? But at this point, all human technology on Sera should still be fueled by Imulsion, right? They literally JUST found out that the miracle fuel is a living organism, so they couldn't possibly have retooled all their engines just yet. So when Dr. Fenix turned that sucker on... shouldn't every King Raven in the vicinity dropped from the sky from sudden loss of power? And all the ships (including Dizzy's sub) would've stopped running, right?

If that's true, then that also brings a slightly depressing tinge to the ending. The whole reason humanity got into the mess was because of hunger for Imulsion. The only reason for THAT was because there wasn't enough energy to go around. So with Imulsion gone... wouldn't humans go right back to scrounging and fighting for any alternative source of energy? Is that the "tomorrow" Anya was talking about?

My attempted explanation:

Imulsion is only usable as fuel thanks to the Lightmass Process; an as-yet-unexplained method where the substance is "refined" for use. Its possible the refined version wouldn't be affected by the weapon.

Its just poor writing to finish off the story. I mean come on, after so many years and you find out that Imulsion is an organism.

That's basically like saying after all these years we find out that petrol or diesel is a living entity. I don't even need to say the ridiculousness of the notion.

They do call them fossil fuels for a reason :P

Keyword=fossil. I'm sure living prehistoric creatures aren't gonna pop up from our fuel tanks anytime soon :)

They do but the government covers it up

He did say it would kill all emulsion infected cells right?

I can't remember the specifics of the final cutscenes or the details. But I don't think it wipes out all imulsion...just cells, locust, human or otherwise, that are infected with emulsion.

Just played it and I think they could have expanded more on the pre E-day story, but Baird specifically asks if they will all die as they have all been exposed to Imulsion. Adam Fenix explains that as they haven't progressed far enough they will be fine.

We actually see the Imulsion refinery explode, so I would guess imulsion in all forms is affected. So the Submarine should be buggered.

However I'm not sure if they all use imulsion as fuel as they mention batteries and electricity at some point, so it could be that there are other means of fuelling things, just that imulsion is the most prolific.
