Marcus- It depends, really. I'm not opposed to having him live, but it would be rather suitable, plot-wise, if he were to die in a manner that guaranteed the end of a war he never wanted to fight. That said, *someone* somewhere will cry "Copycat!" if they kill Marcus off at the end of the game and point to the last "mission" in Halo: Reach.
Dom- Probably dead. Given that his character seems to be suffering a massive case of Frank Castle Syndrome, I foresee him getting in way over his head and dying in a manner that's both tragic and utterly badass, quite possibly involving blitzing a Locust slave camp single-handedly. Honestly, I like this end for him; it's fitting, given everything he's gone through.
Cole and Baird- Tied together. If one lives, the other will; if one dies, the other isn't far behind him. If they die, I foresee Baird going out in an uncharacteristic act of heroism, and Cole consequently going ultra-berserk on more Locust than would allow it to be a viable tactic. That, or a sniper takes him out at a pivotal moment (perhaps involving closing security doors that he manages to keep open for the rest of the squad to push through), though that kind of treads on Carmine territory.
Speaking of Carmine- I actually think this new guy will live. As amused as I am by the family's redshirt reputation, Anthony really could have been any nameless, faceless Gear and had the same effect- but Ben surprised me. After his death (which, I'll admit, was kind of a downer moment for me in-game), I figured they'd keep the third Carmine alive- and I get the feeling that a lot of people voted based on what they *expected* would happen, rather than necessarily what they *wanted* to have happen, either way.
Hoffman- I kind of want him to die. His character irks me in ways I don't know that there are words for. Depending on the outcome of the game, it may be a focal point in which we either meet a new command figure- or Marcus steps up inexplicably- to turn the war around, or his brain going everywhere could signify the doom of humanity. Either way is cool.
Dizzy- LIVES, DAMN IT. The man escaped Skorge. You read the comics, and you know there's a lot more to him than just a scraggly, foul-mouthed fool with a gunslinger complex- he's actually the "everyman-turned-badass" the series kind of needs.
Anya- Could go either way. If she lives, she's going to be instrumental in the defeat of the Locust; if she dies, it's going to kick the plot in the teeth and make it change its approach. I don't really see them in essence doing to Marcus what they've already done to Dom, though; it's just stale writing.
I do personally hope they bring in Alex from the comics, though. She's one of the most entertaining characters, in my opinion, despite her relatively brief story arc, and it would be fun to see her in-game. If they kill her off, though, I'm going to be... QUITE pissed.
Cthulhu will eat you.
