Stupid, poor acting, drawn out plot....just a bad series

I don't understand where the 8/10, 9/10 and 10/10 reviewers come from. Have they never seen good acting to compare this to? The Killing is painfully slow moving and disjointed.
The actors have no chemistry with each other, display predictable stereotypes and are unlikable. After grinding through Season One to its anticlimactic finale, it's hard to imagine how anyone could watch one more season of these characters let alone three more seasons!
4/10 would be my rating mostly because I didn't have to watch commercials which would have prolonged the agony of trying to get to the ending. I think the story continues but the torture of watching any more rain, grim faced actors with very poor interaction and plodding scenarios woul just be a waste of time.

I well understand where the 8/10, 9/10, and 10/10 reviewers come from. Have rarely seen better acting compared to this. The Killing is suspensefully paced and pursues numerous enticing byways.

The actors have wonderful chemistry [especially Enos and Kinnaman], breathe new life into what could otherwise be predictable stereotypes, and are quirkily likable. After the enjoyable ride thru Season One, it's easy to see why one would stick around for another three seasons.

Nine of ten is my rating, because it was vastly superior to the great majority of US television. I would have loved to see more, but I am pleased with the way it ended and consider my time watching it well spent.

That was a great response. I feel the same way.

I've only watched seasons 1 and 2 so far, but I would give it a high rating too. I'm used to seeing very negative comments about most shows/films I've watched and then searched on imdb for message boards about them, so I wasn't surprised that this got the same response up to a point.

Some people just seem to prefer fast paced, high action dramas, sometimes with light humour added in, and I don't mind those kinds of series sometimes too, but The Killing (US) had me gripped every episode. It was pretty easy to follow, I liked the characters though I didn't sympathise with all of them completely, they were just straightforward human beings with their good points and flaws.

I've been watching this on Netflix and will be starting Season 3 perhaps tomorrow. I presume it must've been cancelled after season 4, but that isn't a bad length for a show, so not too disappointing.

Not a bad series, I sort of compare it to True Detectives, slow developing stories that pull you in with each season. I also think Enos did a great job, people gave her a hard time because judging her of the way she looked and acted but it was her role to play and she did it quit well.

The chemistry between her and Holder was up there with other great tandem cops shows and I for one was glad they never crossed the line and fooled around with one another. That is all too common and boring in Hollywood. Like it or leave I appreciated what the creators gave us, a believable true crime series with superb acting.

BTW...I just started season 3 and I hear that was the best season.

I think it would be hard to top the original. The actor Sofie Gråbøl has had a lot of good roles, but some of them left people questioning if she could play something other than the annoying characters. Then she was the star, Sarah Lund, in "Forbrydelsen"(The Killing) and people shut up.

It's not the first Danish crime/thriller/drama to get an adaptation in recent times either.

Totally agree DrZaat. I loved the series and wish there were more like it. I did find The Fall a great series as well. Will keep looking.

Not at all, this series is one of the most brilliantly written and acted compared to many of the rubbish shows we see on TV nowadays. There's also great chemistry between the lead actors.

Go away

Luckily there's a truckload of those CSI shows that hold your hand through the 1 case per episode flashing the perfectly polished broadwalk kings and queens with non-stop gun-blazing and tire-screeching. Because that's intelligent.

Are you for real?! If so ... Man, how much I feel sorry for you and those like you.

The acting is good by the main lead characters, I can't say that about the rest of the cast. Jack was awful. He had the "duh" face in every scene. He talked like he was retarded. That kid by far is the worst young actor in the history of TV. You can tell he's Canadian also, they really have some terrible actors. Guy that plays Jasper is Canadian and he was just as bad.
