John didn't deserve Lori

She was right to be so mad at him. All he did was party with Ted all the time and waste his time. I don't know why she bothered with him

reply

Yup....he was childish, a 35 y/o who never really matured. However that's a big part of the story and characterizing him any other way wouldn't have made the movie as stupidly humorous as it was.

reply

Well, that's one of lifes many lessons. Sometimes, the person who you think you'll have a fairy tale ending with... Isn't right for you.

reply

Considering that Lori never appears in the entire sequel (It was explained she and John divorced after 6 months) I can see why Samantha was a better love interest for John; for one thing, she did like to do what John and Ted like to do and that was smoking pot, which you would never see Lori do if you think about it.

reply

You can't have a meaningful relationship with someone if the only thing that you two have in common is smoking weed.

reply

I know John was very irresponsible in the first movie. But Lori was definitely an ungrateful cu*t for ditching him after this movie. I know he still smoked weed and did some stupid things. But he took way more responsibility after they got married. The weed doesn't affect his life. He made a living to pay for everything of his own to where she could pay for her own. She and John did a lot of fun things in life I'd love to do if I was married right now. I know I may not know as much about marriage as I should. I'm not gay....but if I was a chick, I would want no more than Lori had after she married John. Except a baby.

Lori was every bit the selfish emotional retard she tried to make John out to be, just in a different direction. It was the whole "men have to behave like women or else they're not acceptable" thing that's rampant in our culture, and that women pretend is morally or ethically superior. She was controlling and uncompromising, and called that lurrrv. Not such a catch.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

reply

It is one thing for them to get together short term, but that relationship had its basis on silliness and crudeness and wasn't made to last.
At some point she would outgrow him as she was a more focused, directed and responsible than he was.

reply

Lori was trying to change him to suit her. Lori I felt was more selfish.

reply

I agree with OP. John was an overgrown child and Lori was just trying to make him grow up but Ted was always holding him back which is the reason why in the second film John had achieved nothing with his life. Magical teddy bear or not Ted was still a first class A hole who acts like a slacker collage dropout freeloading his roommate!

reply

She was with him for 4 years and suddenly demanded he change? She should have figured they were a package deal at that point, she was the selfish one.

reply

Yeah, but on the other hand she knew what kind of guy he was. Why did she keep expecting him to be different?
