Very similar career trajectory to Steve Carrell: playing the obnoxious boyfriend/husband (The Way, Way Back) as a kind of dramatic trial role, then having a proper go of it with their next chance (Philomena and Foxcatcher).

Not often that I want to reach into the screen and slap a character, but the scene with Ned and Tatiana in the studio was so difficult to tolerate.

Last thing: was he trying to pull of an American accent? I got that impression at times.
