Is this canceled?

I saw Cartoon Network's upfronts on Toy News I and this wasn't listed as returning. I really hope it's not ending cuz this is a great show. Granted the time jump and memory loss stuff were a little weird, but it's still good.

reply

It's done. CN lost faith in the show a while ago. Be thankful it got 60 episodes, at least.

reply

That's more than Sym-Bionic Titan got.

reply

Nooooo! I love Rex more than any other animated series right now, why you break my heart CN?
Also, why does Ben 10 get series after series and a ton of merchandise while Rex is forgotten about?

reply

Why did they lose faith, I thought it was popular. Did they do the crossover simply to drum up interest cuz Ben is their most popular series? There were 2 episodes that were supposed to be on a while back, but I didn't see them. When I went to watch them NinjaGo was on. That must have been a sign it was doomed. Maybe I can watch those online cuz I never saw them air. I was looking forward to see where it was going with Rex's war with Providence and Black Knight and how Van Kleiss would factor in.

reply

You can watch it on watchcartoononline.com, it's pretty decent quality and the two parter finale is epic, watch it now!

reply

And what is this "Cartoon Planet" business they've put on Friday nights in the slot where they used to have Ben 10 and Generator Rex? Do they think people will like that better?

reply

Did the viewership decline that much or did CN just not like where this series was headed? Is there any way to save it? I haven't watched those 2 episodes yet, but I've got to. I watched a Bleach ep on that site so I know the quality is good.

Cartoon Network is headed by a bunch of idiots who don't care about their audiences at all. They won't release the show on dvd and they refuse to air the last episodes.

This is such a crock.

They obviously wanted the show to succeed as much as anyone, more in fact, considering how much they invested in it.

I don't know about the US but in the UK the channel promoted it quite heavily; seemed to be scheduling it to get the best possible viewership and appropriate demographics; they programmed it on Sky anytime a few times to increase exposure; they really went to town on the licensing and pushed it heavily at the licensing expos, which is often more than half the battle for cartoons, it certainly was the case with Ben10;, the toys were in every half decent toy shop; they did the crossover to try and appeal to more of Ben's massive audience; and they gave us 60 episodes, which is more than a hell of a lot of other great shows, not to mention closure and a decent conclusion rather than a torturous cliff hanger to forever taunt us in reruns.

It's unfortunate but if the show wasn't reaching people when it was on the air, they can't honestly bank on it selling on dvd. As for what's aired, that's dependent upon advertisers, and what they're willing to buy. Rex obviously didn't make the cut, which is a pity but if he wasn't getting the ratings after all that promotion that's the fault of the audience not Cartoon Network. They've at least done right by fans by making it available through itunes.

Cartoon Network may have an awful lot of faults but the reason we have the show in the first place is because they backed it and they gave Rex infinitely better treatment than alot of other shows receive. It's frustrating but imo that's how it is

I find that very hard to believe. CN destroyed the show by scheduling episodes all over the place.

In no way it did seem like they were even remotely interested in keeping it on the air.

How much longer do I have to wait?

reply

They didn't do that here in the states and that's what is infuriating. So Sky bought the rights to broadcast it in the UK and showed it, good. That doesn't make up for the fact that Cartoon Network never really gave it the same amount of exposure as its flagship series that they wanted to succeed and after a while also slashed the budget. Cartoon Network in recent years has had a history of not advertising their high quality shows and even when they meet expectations found other reasons for cancelling them.
