Crap script and even crappier cast tanked this movie

Can anybody really say different?
a) Script:
- It lacks all the funny jokes that permeated the first movie (this isn't Mr Bean to rely solely on physical comedy, good dialogue is actually required, along with good delivery)
- The story was pretty boring, even for such a movie.

b) Cast:
- Where's Bough and Ingrulia? Rowan absolutely needs someone to connect with, and there's literally NOBODY here good at comedy in any way:
- the black sidekick: why is he here? He's not even accidentally funny. If they needed a black person for PC reasons get a funny one (plenty of them, hello Kevin Hart?). And he definitely can't play straight to Rowan either (like Bough did). For this role you need a Bough or a Jean Reno (Pink Panther's only salvageable thing).
- the new love interest (the Gone Girl girl): about as lively/interesting as dead fish.
- the new lady boss (Anderson): why did they cast the X-Files chick? She can't do comedy to save her life, straight or otherwise. Plus she doesn't sound British (she sounds awkward). Couldn't they get Toni Collete, Rachel Weisz or even Helen Mirren? Even Rose Byrne (Aussie but can perfectly do Brit accent), plenty of Brit actresses con can do comedy perfectly.
- the bad guy: while West is a fine Brit actor, comedy clearly ain't his thing. He's neither interesting for funny. Couldn't they get say Jason Statham? The Crank films show he can be hilarious, and it's not like he's unaffordable.

And the soundtrack: 100% forgettable.

Really, why did Rowan even bother?

I can say different:

a. I liked the story and laughed just as much if not more than the first.

b. I loved the entire cast...yes, including the black guy, the woman boss, the love interest and the bad guy (the use of one of the British Secret Service agents as a turncoat traitor was an excellent, bold move).

And, based on popularity rating here on IMDb, I am not the only one who thought the sequel was not only good...but in fact somewhat better than the first.
