One of the most complicated releases ever?

Released in Argentina in 2013 with Latino actors speaking Spanish
then in the UK with British actors speaking English
and now in the US with American actors ALSO speaking English

This has to be one of the most circuitous routes a film has taken in a while. Talk about not getting a straight-forward release - they had to do it over in English a SECOND time??

If Harvey Weinstein has such reservations about the appeal of Soccer to U.S audiences, why even give it a theatrical release to begin with?
He's probably right to be skeptical about a soccer movie in the U.S anyway where the sport just isn't that popular.

In fact it was relaesed FIRST in Argentina with the original 'Argetinean' spanish...
THEN in Spain, dubbed in 'European' spanish...
AND THEN on the rest of Latin America, dubbed...again...in 'Latinamerican/Mexican' spanish!!!

..that´s WEIRD!

Come to think of it, when El Chavo del Ocho TV show started to be aired here in Argentina, we didn't make "an Argentine dub of the Mexican original" to change the Mexican expressions and idioms of that show.

This strange and dangerous behavior of the Mexicans about Metegol is something that worries me.

Perhaps it's time to be reciprocal with the Mexicans. So next time they try to forcefeed their telenovelas or soap operas in our TV schedule slots, we should put a requirement that they can't be aired unless they're dubbed with an Argentine voice cast.

As for the Spanish dub, it doesn't surprises me, Spaniards only watch films and shows if they have Spanish accent. Plus they were one of the two countries co-producing Metegol so... they have the intellectual honesty (honestidad intelectual) to do it if they want so.

It's currently on Netflix. Never got a theatrical release in the US.
