Does the dog die and if so...is it shown?

Details please!

reply

Hopefully, and no. What a moronic post.

reply

Why is it moronic? Maybe the OP finds animal deaths upsetting. I don't like them either. And yes I know, humans are better blah blah blahhhhhh...but it's just how I feel, ta.

reply

The dog is the only likable character so perhaps they will keep him alive because of that.

reply

It's moronic because this movie is rated PG-13. I'd say that's pretty Goddamn explanatory.

reply

You're an angry one aren't you bluehurb?

reply

wow, it was just a question. I don't like to see pet-death scenes in movies. sorry to upset you. Jeeeez.

reply

Thank you for asking! I can't do animal death scenes! I want to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but I just know Cesar gets killed and there will be a heart-wrenching scene between him and James Franco (no matter how evil the apes; we saw Cesar as a baby chimp, so it will be sad), so to avoid public embarrassment I will have to see it at home... Anyway, glad to know the dog survives Shark Night 3D! Thanks again!

"My power over you grows stronger yet..." INDEED!

reply

Um. Cesar doesn't die O.o

lollll. Sad, we live in a world where people dont mind going see people slaughtered, but throw bitch fits when any animal is even harmed.

why the f^uck do you think people get upset when animals die (whether in movies or real life)?!! animals (talking especially about dogs and cats) love you unconditionally and never do the harm that humans do.

They love you unconditionally? Tell that to these dead kids:

You're kidding me right? If you've never felt more loved by a human being than an animal, I feel REALLY sorry for you lmao.
No, I dont need to pay more attention to my name. Im pretty sure my name describes you perfectly... Types of people who would choose the life of a puppy, over the life of a baby if both were dangling off a cliff.

Last I checked, when animals die, Im almost positive they arent having their best moments in life flashing through their eyes. I love animals too, but to choose an animal over a human is insane. Animals do not have laughter, and overall FEELINGS that humans do. Im sorry, but they don't. Sure, they can get sad if you dont play with them, but they do not have even close to what humans feel.

For the Butterfly Effect, everyone cared about when the dog died in the movie. Yet people couldn't give a *beep* about the main characters dying.

Before I say this, let me state. I love and respect animals ten fold. I dont eat meat, drink milk or eat eggs. I dont use any cosmetic products that have even REMOTELY been tested on animals...that said, in films, I dont care who or what dies in it. Dog, cat, baby, person...why? Its FAKE. No matter what is shown on screen, no matter how sad, sure, it might stick with me if its super depressing(which it has before) BUT, its still simply just a movie. If they arent realy dying, no skin off my back.

But what I cannot stand is when someone thinks just because an animal doesnt have the "complexity" of humans their lives are inferior to ours. So just because we can laugh and add our lives are more important then something else? I dont think so. A life is indeed a life, no matter how you slice it. Now Im not saying Id save a dogs life over a humans, then again Im not saying Id save a human over a dog, but in the end, a life is still going to be lost regardless of my choice.

Though, yeah, if the dog gets horribly dismemebered in this film(which it probably wont thanks to the terrible PG-13 rating) I wont go and call PETA demanding to ban the film. The dog isnt really dying. Im going to a SHARK ATTACK MOVIE to see shark attack lives, why would anyone go expecting someone or someones dog NOT to die? lol.

reply

Djblack1313, RIGHT ON.

Talk about failures of humanity!! (And crazy extrapolations...) First of all, humans are nothing more than animals themselves. Second, why are so many of us often more affected by non-human deaths in cinema? Probably due to what you stated; the purity, innocence, and goodness of other creatures frequently makes their suffering, pain, or loss harder to watch and to accept. Pointing out animal attacks is ridiculous. No creature is a natural-born bloodthirsty killing machine, but humans cause harm and death for no good reason at all (and on massive scales) infinitely more often than any other species does. Think about it--sometimes you're actually rooting for human characters to bite the big one, but I can't really imagine wanting to see an animal get killed. (MAYBE if s/he were a very evil character.)

If anyone has never experienced the love of another type of being and understood its power, then I feel really, REALLY sorry for that unfortunate soul. Never too late to adopt a cat or dog or something and enlighten oneself, though. They have more to teach us about love than anything else in the world does. The sooner people realize and embrace that, the better for everyone. So what that they can't laugh in the same manner we do? I have more reason to believe that their feelings/emotions are very similar to ours than that they're somehow 'inferior' (pheh, I'd take it in the other direction)--and no right to presume what might pass through their minds on the brink of death, or what and how deeply they generally think and feel. "Insane?" I don't know about that at all. I’ve always hated it when people act all horrified at the likening of humans to other animals, as though they truly think they’re somehow above the rest of nature.

Having a general preference for (other) animals over humans is perfectly understandable to me. I've always hated hearing anything along the lines of, "But how could you care more about an animal?" HA. 'Twas a wise person who observed that "the more I see of men, the more I love my dog!" Or that "Descent of Man From the Higher Animals" would've been a more accurate title for Darwin's work...

ANYway, while I'm sure that no animals have been harmed in the making of this movie, it would be very bothersome if the dog DID die...although, apparently, s/he doesn't, so let THAT fear be allayed ahead of time, eh? If it were part of the movie, though, I would have appreciated the warning.

Aw, I just noticed your response now...thank you very, very much. I appreciate your kind words and am glad that you agree. Sometimes common sense and intelligence seem frighteningly rare.

OP's post may have been moronic, but so was yours.

You say 'hopefully' the dog dies?

I've got a better question OP. Who gives a *beep*

"Silence is golden, but duct tape is..." ah screw it, this is so unoriginal.

reply

It bothers me when animals die too, glad to know other people feel the same way. SARCASTIC people too! ROFLOL!!! Other question do the two leads die? Sara Paxton's had enough awful things happen to her onscreen without getting eaten by a shark. What about Katharine McPhee? How does anyone already have the script? UGH Where do people get this stuff from? LOL

reply

Sara and Nick do not die. Katherine McPhee got thrown down the water and was eaten by a goblin shark

I hate seeing animals die, too. It really really upsets me. But I'm very sensitive to that kind of stuff anyway. I always have been. It just breaks my heart. But I don't like seeing people die either but it just really breaks my heart to see children/animals get hurt. I can't get passed it. I'm a pansy when it comes to that lol.

(sorry for mispelling and I hope this makes sense)

Reading these posts made me realize people must not pay attention that much to movies. I think the point of movies with these situations that includes dogs is that in general you're suppose to connect with the movie in some way. Like for instance...Friday The 13th remake. You're basically saying you wanted everyone to die including the oh-so kind Jenna. I think people are suppose to relate to characters and be able to identify characters they like and don't like, but if you're jus twatching a movie with no care whatsoever of the characters, you're just going to think that of any movie..which brings us back to the dog. Maybe some people like the dog is so likeable to where they do not want to die. It's not saying they have total disregard to any of the human characters, its just showing how 1)some people just love animals and 2)maybe they just don't want the dog to die.

"if you don't get why people don't like seeing animals (whether in a fake movie like this or in real life) being killed that says more about YOU than it does about those upset they it."

If you don't get why its insane to cry more when an animal dies than a human being with feelings and memories, then it says more about YOU.
I like how you're okay with people being killed in movies, but not animals.
Insane.

I could see it from both sides, looking at it. Because, as said, you don't see any animals on the side anymore. One of the last animals I can remember to be in a movie off the top of my head was princess from Crocodile(i know there are othrs, i just can't rememebr at the moment.) So I guess it would be hard to see the animal die, but when you think about it, the animals mostly live in these situations so to see one die could be effective I guess.
And yeah, as also said, people have gotten so use to people dyign in horror movies, its always expected. Though just because people care for the dog to live, doesn't mean they do not care if a human character lives or dies.

Djblack, Im curious as to how IM a "failure to humanity" as my name suggests for saying that you should care more about a human being dying than an animal. How is it that you, who would rather see a human die over an animal, not a failure to society? Hmmmm.

reply

[deleted]

is "nice try" like the only remark you make in any of your replies?
I can feel why people feel bad for animals dying. I cannot understand why people feel more sorry when an animal dies than a human being. So please, quit with trying to make me appear as if im a jerk who doesn't like animals, or care if they die. I would however, always choose a humans life over an animal, unless they were the scum of the earth (murderer, child rapist, etc).

reply

[deleted]

Well with that being said, I apologize for assuming that you'd choose an animal over a human. But I never once said that i thought any animal dying was not sad. It just gets to me why people have grown to be okay with seeing people killed in movies, but turn their heads for animals. Thats all.

lol its all good. No hard feelings.

and Im looking forward to seeing that Colombiana movie too. Im guessing its good?

Yeah, no one really thinks this movie is going to be "good" but you dont go seeing it thinking that. Im for sure seeing it, but for fun, to laugh at with friends and basically make fun of. That ends up being way more fun that most movies you see haha
