Beautifully and movingly rendered work
I'm surprised at the lack of discussion here, but I'll be the first. This is powerful, top-quality work covering a little-known and painful, difficult subject. I'm really amazed at the ability of Sisters of War to deal with the complexity of the people, all of them trying to survive and retain their moral compass amidst incomprehensibly brutal circumstances. Although it's wrenching to watch, the acting, particularly that of Susie Porter and Claire van der Broom, was superb. As the years recede from this terrible, terrible war, it becomes increasingly important to try to honor the memory of the countless people whose lives were torn apart, and to tell their fascinating stories. The writer, John Misto, has also done an exceptional job creating a coherent, accessible, moving story spanning many years and many conflicted lives.
