Surprised there's only one thread in this fine tv movie

So, instead of making a response to the first thread which is my initial intention, I decided instead to compose another one.

I saw this film only awhile ago before coming here.

After watching Third Star last Friday, I took a look at Cumberbatch's filmography here in imdb, and the title of this movie plus the actor playing the title role made me curious. And as in Third Star, BC was amazing - portraying this passionate painter, his tragic personal life and his unstable mental condition so movingly, so fine tuned that the restraint didn't take away anything from the dark depths and the few quiet moments of personal delights of the artist in this bio-doc.

I've seen Lust for Life just a few years ago, and though I felt it too emotional and melodramatic for my taste, it was also memorable in its own way, to me. This recent one though is more to my taste.

Hope to see more threads and posters in this board soon.

Torian06 I agree with everything you have written. I have just finished watching this marvellous production here in Australia on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I came in here to read other peoples comments and I am surprised that you are the only one so far. Benedict Cumberbatch is a star, I enjoyed him most recently inTinker Tailor Soldier Spy and other productions and will certainly watch out for his work in the future.

Viewed for first time last night, very enjoyable, authentic rendition of Vincent's story. Hoped to purchase this interesting film, but cannot locate it on Amazon at this time.

I just finished watching it on Youtube. It was a very interesting format; I loved the fact that they took the lines of the actors directly from letters. Btw, have you read van Gogh's letters to his brother? I highly recommend them. They give you a more in depth look at his motivations, his inspiration, his perseverance in painting, etc.

Normal is not something to aspire to, it's something to get away from.
