Viktor Reznov

I've never played this game but was curious as to the character's role. My brother and I were having a discussion regarding Gary Oldman's habit of always playing the villain; I was just wondering if this role was the rule or exception..Thanks.

A bit of both. Though Reznov's previous appearance in World at War, was most definitely the exception since he led the Red Army into the heart of Berlin and took the Reichstag.
Oldman also voices Dr. Clarke, who is also kind of a villain yet a valuable asset to the Western protagonists.

Also, I think as he's gotten older he's started to play more good guys. Sirius Black and Commissioner Gordon are but two recent examples.

Yeah, Commissioner Gordon, I think, is his first major "good guy" role. Even Sirius was a villain at first in the Harry Potter film, wasn't he? I also see on his IMDb profile that he played Bob Cratchit in a version of 'A Christmas Carol' which I might have to check out 'cause that sounds way against character..

Gary Oldman is an incredible character actor who has performed some great villains; it's nice to see him switch up and do some characters against his typecast every now and then.. Thanks for the info; I found it interesting he did a voice-over in a video game although it seems a lot of established actors have been lending their voices to video games of late.. It's probably real fun for them to switch it up for a change (not to mention an easy paycheck). I do imagine some career voice actors may be getting upset, though...

No, it was a case of mistaken facts. In Harry Potter Peter Pettigrew betrayed Harry's parents and told Voldemort where they were hiding so he could go and kill them, Sirius found out and, being James' BFF and Harry's godfather, set about exacting his own kind of revenge. Upon confrontation, Pettigrew's sceamed that it was Sirius who betrayed the Potters, used a blasting curse killing 12 muggles, cut off his own finger and transformed into his Animagus rat form to escape. Sirius was sentenced to life in Azkaban for murder and the betrayal of the Potters after Pettigrew framed him. 15 years later he became the first wizard to ever escape Azkaban and hunted down Pettigrew to the Weasley household where he had been living in animagus form as Ron's rat, Scabbers. He made amends with Harry and as they agreed to spare Pettigrew's life so he could clear Sirius' name, Remus Lupin turned into his werewolf form and amongst the chaos Pettigrew escaped.

Yeah, I saw an interview with one voice actor, and the director of whatever game it was, said that, most big-name actors will do a part for a video game like this and it won't break the bank. Besides, they're established (talking about the actors), a lot of times you know what it's like to work with them, they're used to the long hours and the retakes, and all that other bs that goes along with the trade, and they're usually up for it. "Oh, you mean I can show up in my pjs and not have to fix my hair, shave, or whatever? Hell yeah, sign me up!"

I wish I could remember what actor that was, and what game it was. Sorry.
