To you Boyd readers:

I'm re-reading "The New Confessions", after many years, and noticed there was a reference to a book written by Land Fothergill. Is there a back-story to this, or is it just Boyd's little joke?

Also, curiously, there is no mention on imdb of the character or the actress who played her (Charity Wakefield). A curious omission.

Interesting! Especially as The New Confessions was written before this one.
Was surprised Land wasn't in the series more especially as she was going to stand as a Labour MP etc

She wasn't omitted. You have to look her up on the correct episode in which she appeared. She's not listed on the main page for the series.
