Question about a possible plot hole *spoilers*

Actually I really enjoyed the movie and liked it a lot. However, there was one thing I didn't get: Why an airstrike on a forest? I mean, there was nothing there at all, so why would they drop all these bombs in that location?

Maybe it was explained and I don't remember or didn't pay attention?

reply

I would imagine that those dropping the bombs thought it full of enemy troops..

Good question. Maybe it's some scorched earth policy thing? Or to destroy the bunker if there was info in there? Not terribly good theories I must admit.

Wasn't there a bit where someone said over the radio that Hans had failed in his mission and now they had to bomb the forest? My guess is that the filmmakers probably didn't think about it at all.

Maybe Les Grossman ordered the attack? :D

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

Hans was a time-traveler sent from the future to kill Hitler. When he failed and didn't report back, they attempted to wipe out every trace of his having been there.

It seems to me that he did not get the message out that the area was not encamped with the enemy because the radio was broken. So they bombed the cabin anyway. Tom tries to get Hans to tell him what his mission was. But he never says. They excuse him of being a Nazi, something he adamantly refutes. Also sounds like he really didn't want to partake in the barbaric warring and killing, etc and that he was trying to have them bomb a completely uninhabited area out of some sort of conscience.

deers?

His mission was to hunt for rebels on the border. When Hans wasn't able to report back to command, they bombed the area to kill the rebels.

I wondered about that also.
