Exceeded expectations

I went to the Los Angeles premier and was pleasantly surprised. Sure it's a teen surf movie, but it happens to be a surprisingly good teen surf movie.
Far better acting than expected thanks to a good director, with enough emotional rises and falls to actually touch the audience. Add an on-screen level of production quality that far exceeds the direct-to-video expectations, and you have a good film. The only exception were the occasional obvious switches from the actors to the pro-surfers in the water who did the real tricky surfing. I bet some at Universal have contemplated taking it theatrical.

Bottom line: for what it is - a strait to video surf movie sequel - it far, far exceeds expectations.

I agree whole heartedly, and was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable the film was.

Kudos for not sucking like most sequels especially dvd only releases.

I really enjoyed it too. I watch pretty much every women's surfing movie that comes out (granted, there aren't many sadly...). This one ranks up there with the first Blue Crush and I liked it much more than Soul Surfer!

I thought the first one was well done, and had that great video work. I wasn't expecting much here, but found it pleasant and fun. It was worth watching. And it brought back a taste of my own odysseys, in the 60's.
(tho I never got to ride on the Hog Farm's bus, that also had 'weird load' and 'further' written on it)
