Any thoughts on the finale?

What did you think?

reply

I kind of felt let down.

Rosendo's fate was dumb. He was super evil, yet he doesn't pay for any of it. He's disfigured and has lost a leg, but he doesn't care. He goes to prison, where he quickly established himself as a dangerous man, so the rest of the inmates will leave him alone.

I, too, felt a bit let down. Usually I watch the finale a couple of times or at least re-play the parts I really liked, but this time I simply deleted it from my DVR once it was over. Some scenes were cheesy and others I questioned the logic behind them.

1. I didn't feel that Valentina's wedding dress matched her personality. Although she now lived in the country and wore the boots, the hat, and the spurs one could always sense a bit of the city girl in her. She never wore anything remotely traditional, therefore her wedding dress took my by surprise and I was not impressed by it.

2. What happened to the cabin in the last scene? It reminded me of a dollhouse. Poor Chuy...I doubt he'll be hanging out there anymore.

3. Not too crazy about Valentina singing to Jose Miguel right smack in the middle of the wedding ceremony.

4. Valentina in lingerie...she looked very nice but I feel it was done just for the audience and not because it made their wedding night better. In other words, I wasn't convinced that Jose Miguel was drooling when he saw her, unlike some of the viewers at home.

These are just my thoughts and overall I enjoyed this novela.

I loved the wedding dress, I thought it was very pretty, but I completely agree with your assessment.

And yes, the cabin just looked garish. Everybody has kids, that doesn't mean they paint their house the color of Pepto Bismol.

The only reason Valentina sang is because Lucero sings in real life. I like Lucero, but it did look out of place.

They tried to go overboard with the last love scene, but it got awkward after a while. I feel like the titillating lingerie scenes were Ivana's trademark.

Another complaint I have is Leonor's change. It's classic to have a baddie turn good, but her 'lo hice por mi hijo' excuse struck me as pathetic, especially when she did so much to hurt him in the past.

I did like this novela, too, though. I rarely stay interested enough in novelas to watch (nearly) every episode, like I did with this one.

You're right about Leonore's change and how they tried making us believe that everything she did to try to keep her son and Valentina apart was due to her wanting to keep Jose Miguel safe from Rosendo. When Rosendo supposedly died, then it was ok for Jose Miguel to be with Valentina. Baloney!

I was disappointed as well.

1. Ivana got off too easily. I would have preferred her to end up in the manicomio with the ghosts of her victims haunting her for the rest of her life.

2. Rosendo should have suffered more, too. As it is I think he ended up in solitary confinement.

3. Leonor's redemption was too fast.

4. Valentina singing at her own wedding? That didn't feel right no matter what.

Oh, well...
