Tension and dread and desperation

I liked it mostly. I liked how the exposition early on is teased out instead of spoon-fed to the viewer. Then some unexpected brutality sets the tone for the rest of the film. It kept me engaged the whole time. The only part I was so-so about was toward the last third where it got a little silly with 'rules' and one character explaining a lot, but the end was satisfyingly bleak. Not American style for sure. I'm very picky/critical about horror films, and this is one of the few recents I enjoyed.
