Avatar 2 now # ̶1̶̶̶0̶ 9̶ 8̶ 7̶ 6̶ ̶5̶ ̶4̶ 3rd biggest movie of all time
I'm more curious to see where it ends up on the domestic all-time chart. That's the list that matters.share
Yet that US chart was irrelevant to you when speaking of that "fake hit" Top Gun 2. The always shifting takes from FilmBuff. Has no use for those CGI fest mediocre movies that only international audiences eat up, but geeks out for the next Godzilla movie! Gotta get those rewatches in first. It's hard to keep that level of story depth in your head without a refresh. It's adult stuff, not like Transformers.
I find it hard to understand who is wanting to see this movie in the year 2022/2023.share
the population keeps growing - while the iq levels keep dropping. I think that should explain everything.
You know.... there's a lot of chatter about the introduction of AI into the public sphere (currently, it's in beta mode, but soon it will be released to the public - microsoft is already making plans to introduce it into its office suit). If the extensive use of social media caused a decline in people's ability to communicate in real life and their ability to focus for an extended period of time, one has to ponder what impact the AI will have on the IQ of an average human being. From what I gather, no research is being done in that regard - it always gets done only a few years after the release of the new tech. Point being - if the general public's IQ gets much lower, Avatar sequel numbers will do even better moving forward.
part of being a functional adult is understanding that it's a big old world & people have all kinds of preferences & likes and dislikes. & it doesn't really hurt you much if people like things you don't care for.
de gustibus non est disputandum, as the kids so often like to say.
fwiw, i've seen it twice & will probably go back at least one more time to see it in high frame rate again. it's as close as i'll ever get to swimming with whales.
hfr 3d is definitely the best way to see this.
The same overseas market that Bay's Transformers movies were tailor made for.share
I must admit this has really suprised me , i predicted just over a billion as i didnt feel people would flock to see it as much as the first, stand corrected, impressive run, bravo disney and cameron.share

The actual number of tickets sold would be the right measure, not inflated ticket prices. In other countries such as Germany, the number of tickets sold is used for the all-time charts.
I doubt A2 will surpass A1 despite higher ticket prices. You can bet your ass Titanic still outsold Avatar 1 and 2.
