It's so funny. This movie was practically ripped to shreds by critics but, for some reason, this movie left a really good taste in my mouth. Even better than Big Wednesday did. It was more poignant for me than Point Break 1991(a movie which I've seen so many times I know it scene-by-scene and almost all the dialogue in order). I don't choke up or well up in films but I did watching this one.
shareIt's a bit Hollywood and too picture perfect cute, and also full of cliches and mediocre performances. The writing of the mentor/mente relationship is rushed and character development is so so for the most part.
Having said all that, I still enjoyed the hell out of the movie in a point break style 'turn off your brain and have fun' kind of movie. The scenery alone was worth the price of admission, and the whole thing has a smooth mellow vibe to it that was a nice counter balance to the usual explosion filled summer movie slate.
