Any reason why?

I wonder why Ryan's return at the end of the movie is not in the dvd or blu-ray but only the broadcast version since it would be nice to see that scene restored.

I know right?! What's up with that? That is the only reason I would buy the DVD.

I bought the movie when it first came out, but just now read about this scene. I don't have cable and never saw the broadcast. I'm very disappointed that this scene wasn't included in the DVD.
