Plot hole

When patient zero first started attacking, he turned into the doctor and the doctor got killed, then the lt. got killed by the other lt. why didn't he just kill him there were only two of them left in the room, its like *beep* I just killed the 2 wrong ones and the last one left is the right one but hell I won't kill him, just in case the 2 first ones maybe were the right ones, besides all the evidence pointing otherwise, if it was me I would have simply shot both doctors in the begging sort them out later.

I surrender. WTF was that all about? You would have shot them in the begging? That's a bit mean, if you ask me.

No he shot the 2 wrong guys and then just did nothing, he shot his buddy and the doc and only the alien was left and he just decided what the hell I'll die instead of killing him.

OP is right in his comments though it's not a plot hole - it's just poor reaction by the character.

When he shot one of the doctors, he saw red blood so he knew it wasn't the alien. At that point, he should have immediately shot the other doctor (which was the alien). Instead he let the alien attack his friend, and the same thing happened again.

After that I saw that, I figured this must be a comedy...
