I know this thread is old, but I thought I'd give a heads up for anyone looking for it now. I was at a Walmart digging through those bins of $5 DVDs, and I came across this film, La Casa Muda, and The Appeared, all of which are IFC titles— the only catch is that the artwork and packaging is in Spanish— which doesn't really matter considering these are Spanish language films, and the DVDs have English subtitles (as well as English dubs on some of them).

I didn't know IFC released these films with Spanish-language packaging, and I'm kind of mad because I bought La Casa Muda awhile back at Barnes and Noble (saw the US remake and really liked it, so wanted to check out the original), and I spent $25 on it, only to find it in a Walmart bargain bin a few months later. The only difference between the DVDs? The artwork is in Spanish and not English!

To be honest, the packaging being all in Spanish makes more sense almost, considering that's the language of the film. Then again, I studied Spanish in college so I can read it pretty well (fluently speaking it is, well, another story...)

Just so you know, I get ill every time I go to Wal-mart. So huge, so... something.

Nevertheless, I had to find a plumbing tool on a Sunday and I had to go to a Wal-mart (BTW: they didn't have the part I needed, so there you go). While there, I meandered into the Electronics department and looked at the DVDs and Blu-rays.

I had seen only *one* picture from Kidnapped but it looked interesting enough to seek it out. While in the Latino DVD/Blu-ray section at this giant Wal-mart I spotted that one screen shot on the cover of a DVD called "Secuestrados".

Like youshotandywarhol graciously said, "Secuestrados" is exactly the same DVD as the English-titled "Kidnapped". It contains English (dubbed) and Spanish audio tracks.

As well being not only merely subtitled in English, it also boasts English subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (SDH) but Spanish SDH subtitles.

"Kidnapped" sells for $20 on Amazon. The same exact movie and features - "Secuestrados" - is $5.00 (USD) at a (sigh) Wal-mart.

P.S. I also saw the DVD of the amazing Spanish movie "The Last Circus" for $15.00 (but I bought the Blu-ray edition on Amazon for a lot more). I love foreign films (i.e., non-English-speaking) but it's often difficult to find them inexpensively.

So I guess I'll have to check the Spanish-speaking section of... you know, that awful big-box store on a semi-regular basis for really good Spanish films rather than pay a lot more simply because certain retailers - having the "English" issue of a DVD or Blu-ray - assume that all non-English-speaking films are rare and exclusive to only a special demographic of art film fanatics.
