Good NRA propaganda

This wouldn't happen in Texas. Those unarmed spanish were ripe for a home invasion/rape. 200 million Americans have guns because of the highly unlikely scenario presented in this movie.

reply

Yeah well, if this film is any indication then all of those gun toting Americans would probably just fumble their guns and/or give them away to the men who intend to murder them. Because that all makes sense.

The guys who wrote this have a very poor understanding of human motivation and behavior, and apparently have zero survival instinct.

reply

If you point is the film is not a good indication I agree. Lots of people do defend themselves effectively with firearms in these cases. see Wikipedia "defensive gun use".

By the way be careful about studies that assert people or their families are more likely to be harmed by having a weapon. those have been debunked because as it turns out virtually all the cases of harm in those data sets are active criminal (illegal) "gun owners" killed in criminal on criminal violence.

reply

They fumbled and/or gave the gun away in this movie
BECAUSE it was Spain, and people there simply do not
know the mechanics of proper firearm use because they
are not allowed to own them as a society like here
in America. And Texas is not a very good place to
make a point about, unlike what seems to be public
knowledge about Texas gun laws, they are very strict
there considering other places, like here in Florida
the guns laws are twice as relaxed. But take Colorado,
now there you can open carry without a permit. But not
in all places in the state, if you go into Denver, you
better put it back into the glove box. NOW take Vermont,
they have absolutely no gun laws. except what id federal,
which only applies to rapid fire machine guns and explosives,
but every other type of gun can be carried anywhere, in a bank
or into Walmart, hidden or in plain view. and they have
it in the law books that no where in the state of Vermont
can any place say that you cannot carry. Now, yes, if these
robbers had come a knockin' on a window in Vermont, they would
be in for a surprise, lol

I myself would rather die by a gun than kill with one. So boring-even for self defense, not to mention a waste of money. Let's not forget the culture surrounding gun ownership (if it's anything like the press releases of the NRA claim it to be, which it's not) is mind-bogglingly atrocious. I've literally told people I can't be their friend or be around them because of their gun ownership because I don't feel safe.

Anyway whatever happened to poisoning, tourniquet-aided dismemberment (no fuss no muss), bone-breaking, et al?

No need to worry, these are just hobbies I enjoy (of course not on people, silly). Y'know, like guns at a shooting range.

reply

@ Emory

How could you practice bone breaking if not on humans, unless you harm helpless animals, or its just you rambling incoherently

Are you male? If yeah, do you have a family?
Do you want one? Don't believe anywhere is a fairytale place where you can talk it out or call the cops(lol) w/on the baddies.

Guns were created, that's a fact, people, usually people with no love or conscious have them, you only get one life, and if your a male you know the pains of finding true love(if you have an IQ) and offspring are always considered precious

Gun owning homes of non criminals are safer than unarmed homes.

The half the country that owns guns is making you safer already.

And why are guns a waste of money? their value increases even with use more than the stock market!

reply

No, it's not, with the exception of gang violence (which generally keeps to itself) 90% of murders and mass murders in the US are committed by law-abiding citizens, so no - a nation is not safer when half are armed.

If one of my neighbours, colleagues or any one else I know were to 'go postal' for whatever reason I know they will at most probably kill a single person before being jumped and disarmed. I can dodge knives, bats, etc - but I can not dodge bullets, only one man can and he is fictional.

From Columbine to Sandy Hook to regular college killings to the church slayings to the cinema massacre just about any mass killing everywhere you will find out that the perpetrator will likely have been a law-abiding citizen until a few hours before their death/arrest for ending a dozen lives.

I'll take a gun-free third-world dumping hole over the US any day. I have children, I clearly want them to grow up safe and since the Wild West seems to have spread to all 320 million Americans safety is not on that continent.

Actually, in the examples you just provided, the hateful and disturbed nature of the shooters were pretty apparent before the incidents.

And the shootings happened in "gun free zones" where the only ones with guns were those intending to harm with them rather than defend, which is, not coincidentally where just about every violent shooting incident takes place.

This is possibly the most asinine thing I have read all week. If you value your own life so little, imagine your spouse, parent or child's life being threatened. Are you saying you would rather watch them hurt or worse than defend their lives with the best tool for the job? If you could wish a gun in to their hands in their moment of peril you would chose to not because you somehow think the moral high ground is to let a criminal hurt or kill an innocent rather than let an "evil" inanimate object stop the threat? I generally disdain ad hominems, but I really want to call you an idiot right now.And this is coming from someone who came from the "mind-bogglingly atrocious" culture of an upper middle-class family on the upper West side of Manhattan, who is college educated, listens to opera, voted for Clinton (Bill) and shops at Trader Joe's. Fück you and your indoctrinated cowardice.Conversely, if you are trolling, great job! 10/10 ---It wants no straps. - Karlhttp://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000024/nest/158601447

Tongue in cheek or not, you make good points. Most gun owners I know here in the south are very misled about guns. Anyway, knowing my luck, it would jam or explode! But imagine how boring Scott Adkins movies would be if all he ever did was shoot his foes.
