I had to set this mute (spoilers ahead)

sorry, but the constant crying and whimpering was unbearable. I know it was completely realistic, I'd probably be screaming and crying and whimpering like that too if something like this happened to me, but I just couldn't sit through it. It drove me crazy.

I was so angry at the retarded father for not putting a bullet in that guys head before he left the car wreck, so when he returned to the house and killed everyone in the end I was completely indifferent.

I just came to the board to post something similiar. I would be scared and would probably cry, but not constantly and so damn loudly! Usually you're so frightened you can't say anything let alone scream for hours on end. It was just wah wah wah all through the movie. Gave me a damn headache.

And the father was an idiot. Constantly talking and doing things he shouldn't. Almost ruined it for me.

It's all fun and games until someone gets caught. Then it's larceny.

If the family followed the rules and were still killed, we'd hate it, but because they all did stupid things (the dad trying to ask for help from the woman at the ATM, the Mom refusing to open the door and choosing to allow the boy to "die") it was shocking that they died, but I didn't relate to them as much as I wanted to.

OK,um I don't know if you guys are all English speaking people on
this thread, or maybe even all american??
I don't think that you realize this, but this whimpering that you
speak of, that drives you all crazy, it is only because you
are not Spanish.

So hear me out, all the whimpering and whining, it is a language/
cultural thing. This may sound crazy, but if you have ever watched
a foreign porn movie, like from any Spanish speaking place esp.
the women pant and moan in such an irritating way, plus they
repeat words over and over again, it is so annoying.
OK, so you think a porn movie isn't a good example? well my wife
is a nurse at a hospital, and we have a LOT of Hispanic people
living here in SW FL. so the deal is that Hispanic people will
come in for all sorts of things, from labor pains, to a cut or
broken finger. It could be from anything, but things that are
not crazy painful, and now I am talking about women here esp.
well they cry, and moan, and go mama mama mama mama mama, and cry
and moan. OMG, it is the worst. it drives her nuts, cause she
has had lots of medical problems herself, and she knows what
real pain is. But she says that it is a cultural thing, that
they are just very wimpy when it comes to pain, or even
emotional pain, like if someone, like an old relative that
dies naturally, OMG, they go berserk!! the crying.

So that is my 2 cents. But really, if you think about it, look
back on anything that is foreign like this, and has women that
are terrorized, or even foreign women in an English speaking movie
that are acting upset, and cry, and whimper, and if you are
american, or NA, and speak English as your first language, then
think back. were they not all annoying???

hey, maybe I am not so P.C., but I am right...

I was thinking the same thing. It grated on my nerves at a very deep level, and I'm not over-exaggerating. I agree that it is probably a realistic reaction on the part of the character, but the character Isa's whining pant type of a thing in the film honestly aggravated me.

I never fast forward through movies, but this was an exception. It seems that the juicy, gory bits were at the tail-end, too. Oh well.

As far as "home invasion" films go, I cannot suggest this one to anybody.

I think it is a realistic first reaction. But at some point you have to realize it is not helping and shut up.

I guess you don't know how people act when they are terrorized ... If anything is was too real .

Uhh same here!! Just wanted Isa to stfu! At a certain point the shock of what's going on wears down a little bit. You're not gonna be screaming like a lunatic the WHOLE time. Most people even through the shock would be finding a way to escape and making as little noise as possible as they do so. geez
