how 7? (spoiler)

can someone please explain the ending?
The movie should have ended when priyanka asked forgiveness for her 7 sins, considering she might have done 7 murders, but then arun was shown during the end credits..
how? what? huh?

[spoiler ahead]

i think it's a metaphor..
during the journey of killing 6 husbands, she killed her own identity...
the real, noble sussane who was kind enough to send a kid to school, was killed in the journey and now Nun Anna was born at the end of the film..

reply

It felt like an open ending so that viewers can make up a conclusion for themselves..
However, couple of days after watching the film, I kept remembering the look on priyanka's face at her fathers funeral, felt more like disappointment in herself mixed with sadness..
I think she killed her father as well. Intentionally or unintentionally, that remains a mystery, but I think that was her first kill.
Followed by the major, jimmy, wasiullah, vronsky, keemat & tarafdar..
That's why she said "Mere 7 gunah" (my 7 sins) at the end of the movie..

Seventh Murder was hers only guys.

reply

seventh murder is Susanna's

6 were the husbands and the 7th murder was that of maid Maggie auntie who was accidently killed in the fire, for which Sussane was only responsible. Hence the 7 murders.

reply

in that case it would be 8 as her other assistant was killed by eating the poison mushroom soup, which was meant for her. so i think she is referring to her own death.

Naseer made the soup. She started the fire.

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

reply

But she started the fire without knowing of Maggie's presence in there.

reply

She was not responsible for Maggie's death.

reply

7th murder was of Sussanna.....she lost herself in the course of killing of her 6 husbands......

n she herself was responsible for killing herself as she resorted to killing to her 6 husbands....

She killed a dog when she was a kid with her father's gun. Was she ever noble??

As far as killing her identity is concerned, i don't think she played any role in that. It was Vivaan and to a lesser extent the maid who were responsible.

I know that metaphorical explanation sounds intelligent but asking for forgiveness for a sin that she 'metaphorically' committed doesn't.

I think the 7th murder is that of the maid who was killed in the fire.

By the way if killing animals is also a sin, it could be killing that dog too.

You're right but I think she is referring to killing jesus as in killing god with her ungodly deeds. There can be other explanations since the ending is quite open for interpretation.

Six of Sussana's sins is the killing of her previous 6 husbands. Assuming the story uses Christian theology, her seventh sin (in the same vein as the other sins) is also due to the death of her 7th Husband, Christ Jesus.

Obviously, Susaana didn't kill the Lord Jesus literally, but Christ, the Passover-Lamb of God (John 1:29), died for the sins of His international worldwide/catholic (Matthew 28:19; Romans 1:16) church, His bride (Ephesians 5:25,28-29,31-32). Since Christ's atoning/propitiating death as her Savior was necessary for her to be forgiven of her sins in peaceful reconciliation to God through faith/belief, it is in this sense that she understands at the end of the film that she is responsible for the death of her 7th Husband Who died for her sins (1 Corinthians 5:2-3; 1 Corinthians 11:26-27; Galatians 1:4; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 4:10; Revelation 1:5).

This is why in the context of discussing with Arun her previous 6 husbands' deaths and the death of her upcoming 7th Husband, Sussana boldly proclaims her 7th Husband's death to Arun, announcing that she "will drink" the blood of her 7th Husband, Jesus Christ, Who "is dead" (John 6:47-58; Matthew 26:26-28; Luke 22:15-20). At the end of the film, in humble repentance after careful self-examination Susanna confesses her seventh sin of murder, and she is forgiven of this 7th sin, rather than being "guilty of the body and blood of the Lord" (1 Corinthians 11:26-28).

"But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. The chastening of our peace fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned our own way. But, Yahweh has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him" (Isaiah 53:5-6).

"And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness, for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls" (1 Peter 2:24-25).

"For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup" (1 Corinthians 11:26-28).

Thanks for the explanations...

her sayin "my 7 sins" makes me feel she killed her father.
but everybody have their own opinions.
that is the beauty & problem of open endings.

reply

It is not clear from the movie.
The 7th murder is either of herself (real suicide or symbolic because she is not the same any more) OR of jesus (symbolic) because by committing murders, she was definitely killing the concept of god.

reply

I think she felt guilty for death of her maid... That's why she asked forgiveness for 7 murders...

reply

On a funny note: Looking at the Box-Office result, her 7th murder is Producer of the film :))
