One of the goofiest things I've ever seen in a movie. First of all, if someone needed a brace like that thy would wear it on the inside. Secondly, a brace wouldn't be needed unless u were playing sports or exercising
shareI believe farming would be considered exercising. Also, he wears it on the outside of his pants because farmers do not wear baggy style pants. They wear tight ones and to not get caught on the equiptment. The brace probably would not fit on the inside of his jeans.
shareI just found it weird that 20 years later he is still wearing a knee brace and struggling that much.
I've had 3 knee surgeries and don't wear a brace. Maybe the surgeries weren't near as good or successful back then. I didn't break my leg like he did, but I've know of or heard about some pretty bad leg injuries and haven't seen the problems that he seemed to have.
Maybe he couldn't afford follow-up surgeries and that's what he was stuck with. Perhaps his initial surgery was botched. My father had a knee injury 25 years ago, tore the cartilage in his knee. Instead of repairing it they removed the cartilage. He walked with a limp and a brace, not the road warrior type of brace, but it was serious. He had to have a full knee replacement not too long ago...and that was after years of pain until the docs said it was his only option. Insurance didnt want to pay because he was "too young" for a knee replacement, meaning he'd probably outlive the replacement knee and have to have another one down the road.
