Sabine is the true heir to Top Gear

Sabine was the high point of the most recent episode. Like the original trio, it was her off the cuff and unscripted assessment of the vette that really stood out to me through the episode. I kept hoping she was going to pop back up, but alas it was more the Chris-Matt show. I was disappointed that throughout the episode we didn't get any real opinions on the cars. That was a staple of the Clarkson led series. We loved to hate Jezza's honest and sometimes ridiculous assessments of car design. Evans never once touched on how he felt about the Viper, Rover, or the Reliant Robin. We don't just want to hear about its specs, we want to know what it is like to drive.

Also The roadtrip to Blackpool felt empty without a third person. Why wouldn't they include the most capable driver and personality? If the show does not shape up not only does the Top Gear name continue its descent but it also could potentially drag down a natural talent.

Sabine felt more like a Top Gear type host.

At least she had some of that no-nonsense charm the old crew had.

I thought they were all bland. Clarkson and co always took the piss outta themselves calling each other idiots and then there was the Clarksonisms like "gentleman sausage" it's just a poor copy.

When I first heard that the Beeb had secured Sabine Schmitz for the "post-Three Musketeers" version of Top Gear, I was genuinely pleased. This seemed like the only real coup the new show had pulled off. Sabine wouldn't be a woman shoe-horned into the show for the sake of political correctness, she has real qualities to offer: proper professional race driving credentials and competitive success, previous experience presenting a motoring show, previous appearances on Top Gear, charisma, a certain boisterousness that worked so well with the previous presenters, and a German sense of humour that contrasts in an amusing way on British TV. So, I was really disappointed that Sabine's appearance on the first show was so brief. I had expected that all the new presenters would get a look in on the new show. After all, we have been promised seven of them! Instead, the Human Emoji and Matt Finish tried to carry the show themselves, and managed to make large parts of the show as interesting as watching paint dry. When you have a real Tame Female Racing Driver on the team, what's the point of sticking her in only one segment when you are trying to make a big impact on show one, following the most successful presenting team Top Gear has ever had?

Frankly I don't want a woman telling me what she thinks of cars.

Sabine? There's no doubting her professional credentials as a racing driver, but the only thing I will say is that I've met her in person, and my knees buckled! Sexy doesn't even BEGIN to describe her!
