Why you don't use people

In the movie Harinder deliberately used Lajjo, to get free food, for himself and his friends, since he knows the girl likes him and will do favors for him.

He does this even though people keep telling him the girl likes him. And he replies that he doen't like her. She even stops by hie house one evening with sweets for him. He getts his sister to retrieve the sweets and lie saying he is not home. But he grabs the sweets and eats them anyway.

Now later on in the story Lajjo has a chance to help Harinder reunite with Aayat, and instead she burns the letter that would have reunited them.

Now I would have resented Lajjo, if she hadn't been used by Harry. She always thought he had liked her first and them Aayat got in the way. That is why she reacted the way she did.

Which is why you don't deliberately use someone who cares for you. Be Honest with them. You never know you may need their help one day.

Using someone for sweets and food and betraying someone's trust, driving them apart and ruining their lives are two different things.

It would've been a different story if they were all still young and living in the village together but this was years later. Rajjo had settled down and even has a child! Yet, she decided to behave like a immature girl. The girl had no shame in the movie even up to the point where she said she will jump off the train with Harry and die together.

There is no excuse for to have behaved that way.

Why couldn't they use email to communicate with each other. Letters, phone calls are a thing of the old.

Now, I know it was 1999. I had an email address in 1995.

The girl lived in Scotland and the boy was a top Air Force pilot. Please don't tell me that they didn't have an email account.

True, it would've made things a lot more easier but maybe Pankaj Kapoor decided to base this story in the 90s for that reason, nowadays it's so hard to lose someone you know/knew. But just because Aayat lived in Scotland doesn't mean she's bound to have an email account. I've lived in the UK all my life and I only got my first email address in 2001.

Good point about Harry, though, I'm sure those in the Air Force have their own email.

I think what you said makes a lot of sense. Good insight.

"Even in death, I gave you life. I GAVE YOU LIFE!"

It's just a way of seeing life.If he used her for sweets and later she burnt the letter, this was all destiny.I strongly strongly and strongly stand by the words of OP,he is right in his thoughts and his words are something else which you people didn't pick up.

Today in the world of money, cell phones and internet, there is nothing such purity, sweetness, the simplicity and the tender love moments shown in this film. Those people who don't understand it,they haven't been in love or they are heartless. The love of today, giving credits to girlfriends for cell phone, dinning in expensive resturans, and doing roads roaming in cars is not love.this is just lust turned modernised and the simplicity of love is still the same as shown in the film.
