Availablility?

I watched Black Narcissus again a few nights ago.

But this time in Blu-ray.

Knocked me out!

Simply stunning.

Now dying to know even more about Cardiff.

So when's Cameraman: The Life & Work of Jack Cardiff
coming out on DVD or Blu-ray?

Nary a mention of it on Amazon or Netflix.

Wonder how long I can hold my breath until I turn
bright, vivid, technicolor blue.

reply

I don't know, but it will be playing at SIFF this month.

.The first cinematographer to win an Lifetime Achievement Oscar®, Jack Cardiff is well known to lovers of cinema for his nine decades behind the camera with directors and stars like John Huston, Alfred Hitchcock, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, Errol Flynn, and Kirk Douglas. Essentially, his life was the cinema: he started in 1918 as a child actor, began working as a camera assistant, honed his craft filming public information films during WWII, was camera operator for some of the earliest Technicolor and Cinemascope productions, and collaborated frequently with director Michael Powell—with whom he won his first Academy Award® for Black Narcissus. And all of this before his transition into directing in the 1960s. Director Craig McCall spent twelve years alongside Cardiff, a spirited octogenarian who shares stories of the actresses who demanded his lens, shows how the paintings of Vermeer and Caravaggio influenced his work, and, never one to put the camera down, shares his vast collection of behind-the-scenes footage. Shot entirely on 16mm film, a refreshing throwback in this digital age, and including interviews with over twenty of the world’s greatest actors, directors and technicians, Cameraman is a thrilling tribute to an exceptional life.
