Toronto, Canada - All-American city

Canada has built a firm, homegrown movie-making industry of its own. Toronto is supposed to be the nexus of Canadian movie-making with Vancouver B.C. as a satellite nexus.

Yet, Toronto continues on as another, All-American city that encompasses the identies of Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, parts of New York City. I'm not critisizing anything. It's just interesting to me. In RED, WEREWOLF HUNTER, a Toronto film studio backlot doubles as a deserted, derelict, rural American town. The director placed several derelict, broken-down, and abandoned cars with American state license plates around the town. I guess it's become convenient for Toronto to be something of a chameleon film location. Canadian filmmakers headquarter in Toronto while filming Canadian-based movies outside the city. But when filming in an urban, metropolitan setting, Toronto becomes more often than not another large American city located somewhere in the upper or northern Midwest or in the northeast. Again, I have no criticism. It all works out nicely for everyone involved. Everyone gets what they want out of Toronot.
