the end spoiler

what a crappy ending. why did she have to kill nathan? couldnt they have just ended it wher they lived in the mansion. and how did she have a daughter? does that mena she is a werewof

reply

I agree.I did not like the endiing.

maybe she just controls herself.IDK

reply

Decent movie, but it has a tacked-on ending. I don't think she's a werewolf because she killed the wolf that made her and she had not yet killed a human being.

reply

Oh! Thank you yes I think you are right.

reply

I liked the movie, but I agree the ending was terrible and made little sense.

reply

Maybe she was pregnant with Nathans's child and the howling was that though she thought all werewolves were dead, they actually wouldn't.

reply

i def think that was nathan's little girl at the end; i think she was pregnant, bc the little girl wouldn't be a baby since it seems years passed. also think there are more werewolves than she thought .. not bad movie for syfy.

reply

The film was pretty clear on the rules. Being a werewolf is only curable if you have not killed another human while in wolf form.

Nathon killed Red's grandmother and so had become uncurable.

Red was infected by Nathan, so they both could have gone on as werewolves, but only by killing Nathon could Red save herself from life as a werewolf.

She also thought that killing Nathan would end the line of werewolves.

So the final scene shows that the line of hunters continues through Red and Nathan's daughter, and also that there are still werewolves out there to be hunted.

What I missed from the film is how Gabriel learned to control the change. I f it was just willpower than other wolves would have learned to do so in the past. During the film I thought it would turn out that Gabriel was Red's grandfather, and that something about being cured and then reinfected would be the reason. But unless I missed a scene nothing so interesting was included.

They should have hired you to do a punch up of the movie...your addition would have made it so much better storywise.

reply

Got it! thanks for explaining the whole thing 

This would have made for a better ending, or it would have least made sense.

As Red battles Gabriel, Nathan breaks free of the cell and attacks Gabriel. The two battle it out and eventually Nathan kills Gabriel, curing himself. Happy Ending.

Otherwise, this was a surprisingly good little Syfy Original Movie. Their best since Wyvern to be honest. Even the CGI wasn't ungodforsakenly awful and more akin to their miniseries special effects.

reply

I guess they didn't want this to have a "happy" ending. Grandma basically killed herself and Nathan by not sticking to the tranquilizer darts.

Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.

reply

Also..since she was a cop.How is she going to explain that nathan is dead with no body?

reply

I loved the ending it's about time we get a movie with some balls and give up a unhappy ending .I get so dam tired of all this same ending over and over finally .

reply

Well said Vaclav17...enough of that "happily fading into the sunset" crap. Life ain't always a happy ending!

reply

I agree. The ending made it all the better for me.

reply

What the hell are you talking about? Nearly every movie (that isn't a romantic comedy) ends with an unhappy ending these days. There aren't many sci-fi and horror movies with happy endings anymore, let alone ones were more than just the female survivor lives.

No, I'm getting sick of bad endings, I already know life sucks I don't need every movie out there reminding me.

reply

Happy endings? Not necessarily, but some endings are better than others.

Try Lucy Liu's vampire movie, RIZE, or THE LIBRARIAN: CURSE OF THE JUDAS CHALICE with Noah Wiley and Stana Katic (who actually sings in the movie!). Their endings are somewhat unexpected, but not abrupt...
(more would give spoilers, and I would prefer not to)

reply

Actually, the ending was my favorite part of the movie. I didn't really find the plot that interesting or original (although I _love_ Felicia, don't get me wrong, she's my hero and I was very sad to see the movie didn't turn out to be as good as I had imagined it would be), but the ending at least saved it a little bit for me. Only tacking on that bit about the line of hunters continuing throug Red's daughter seemed a bit forced again, but hey I don't really care...

That'll put marzipan on your pie-plate, bingo!

reply

I thought maybe the whole story was made up and she was reading it to her little girl? Which was pretty crappy bed-time reading from what I could see.

Pretty much liked the movie up until the end bit, swiss-cheesy holes and all.

When Nathan attacked Red, she became infected with lycanthropy. Only by killing him before she actually shifted and fed was she able to keep herself from becoming a true werewolf. As for her daughter, I'm fairly certain she's not Nathan's. I mean, she could be, but to me, the most likely scenario is that Red eventually found love again, married, and had a child of her own. I always thought that with the end of Gabriel, Red thought that she'd never have to deal with werewolf hunting again. However, since we hear a howling in the background that alerts both mother and daughter, we can assume that Red realizes she'll have to deal with it all over again. Thus, the line of werewolf *hunters* continues, not any actual line of werewolves themselves.

reply

I have to agree with jbowmore... the daughter was Nathan's... another good reason, probably the best reason, for Red to kill Nathan before she turned.
