DUDE VERSION OF EAT PRAY LOVE

At least the trailer makes it look so. Snoozefest!!!

reply

Yup. I saw it last week and eat pray love was the first movie it remembered me of. It was boring at times but funny and thought-provoking at other times. Wasn't bad.. but definitely not a movie you watch with 6 friends in the cinema. Simon Pegg made it watchable.

My wife wanted to see it, I hadn't heard of it, but I went. Overall it was an entertaining movie however it would have been more believable if he'd gone bought a plane ticket for London after his adventures in Africa and simply just Skyped with Agnes from the airport and read Professor Coreman's book. This would have had the added benefit of tightening up the script and shortening the movie's running time to 90 minutes.

I can't disagree, yes your appraisal of it is quite accurate. It's not an action packed explosion fest. It's a film that makes us look inward. I found it very well done and never heavy handed in it's delivery.

reply

Yeah just like Expendables was sex and the city for men.

reply

Yes, if you mean chick flick with a male lead

reply

No..no..no..no chick flick.

Actually both myself, my wife and my mother have seen it. We all loved it; 9/10

Way better than Eat Pray Love. I liked that movie and yeah my wife loved Eat Pray Love a lot (she gives it 9/10; for it was more a 7 or 8 max).

But yeah, just a great film this. But based on peoples comments and reviews I fear many people who saw it either completely misunderstood the plot and missed the point of the movie.

It is almost as if they watched an entirely different film!

I thought the exact same thing: Male version of Eat, Pray, Love.

However I still enjoyed it. Is it going to change my life? No. But I enjoy a fun movie that makes you think a little about the good in your life and also makes you chuckle in only the way Simon Pegg can, so if you are a fan of his style give it a-go.

Fun Fact:
The doctor friend Michael AND Agnes are both British but played 'American' roles with American accents.

I don't think Hector was anywhere near as unlikable as the character in Eat Pray Love. There's similarities, but that woman just flat-out quit on life. Hector goes on a vacation.

Eat Pray Love was the dude version of this!

It is. Equally as bad with some more likable acting.
