Is Quasar related to Captain Marvel?

The cast lists her real name as Phyla-Vell and his name is Mar-Vell, so they must be related somehow.

I believe he's her father although not in the traditional sense. Here's a link:

I wonder if that has any bearing on this series? We'll likely never know if this gets canceled.

not likely being they used the Ultimate Universe Mar-Vell but Phyla-Vell was her 616 Quasar version.
